Hi, I'm Macksum. Mmmorpg.com Ive been lurking your forums for years seldomly posting. But there is something I'm afraid I should bring up to you.
I've never lol'ed from a video game intro before. Oh my god, watch it twice.

What I'm trying to say is the story line is prude. And I didn't stop laughing through the whole video. You start laughing within the first 5 seconds. As the narrator says outrageous and unbeleivable and unfathomable statements I can't stop from laughing harder and harder as the story builds. I've never lol'ed from a video game intro before. I'm sorry guys, give the mmorpg genre 8 more months and we'll all be happy.

I know what your saying but I do not think its funny. They are just trying to look into the future to what might happen. I don't think there is anything funny about that. Accually, Tabula Rasa if you didnt know means "Clean Slate". It accually derives from a Christian person named John Locke (Not the guy from Lost). Who used the phrase to help describe our existance. xD
The video intro takes place in modern age. And a large massive alien war comes to earth, but our leaders knew about it coming and knew about a whole buncha alien shit. THEN the government hand picks people strong fighters and then the government takes alien technology and makes "wurm portals to send you to an alien war thats been raging for aions on planets you never even knew existed." But then on the planet the soldiers follow a "secret prophecy" blahahlalhahal lol.

I take all games seriously. I've never laughed from an MMORPG from all games. I don't even know how the game is it, I didn't even try. And I'm not trolling.

That's legit because it's based off an IP lol.
In case you haven't noticed, this game is also IP. The only difference between this and the elves / orcs / swords setting is that the latter has been around longer and is more well-known.
The intro to TR is very cheesy and not entirely immersive, it really doesn't pull you in at all. If anything, you'd chuckle to yourself for how cliche and unbelievable the story is... but to laugh out loud would mean you've had too much eggnog / vodka.
In fact, vodka sounds good.

how about, learning what the definition of an IP is. When your done smacking your forehead into your keyboard, come back and edit IP to mean something more relavent to your point. I think your missing a couple words before the acronym IP

Come on, the OP is not trolling. The intro is unbelievably dumb, imagine if it was for a sci-fi movie, the critics would be all over it. But it is a game and to my experience few games have good storylines. It exists mainly as an excuse for killing some bad guy.
Lets face it, its not like there are known Hollywood screenwriters who wrote the storyline and thats why it is so dumb.

Did the OP forget his meds? Sorry but I personally dont put much stock into someone who who calls a game weaksauce based on a trailer. Especcialy one that doesnt show any game mechanics or gameplay. All the trailer does is give you the backstory. If thats the case that games are weak because of a bad trailer then WoW/LOTRO/EQ......well EVERY MMO EVER is weaksauce. I dont play TR and dont plan on it, but not because of a trailer, because I didnt enjoy the gameplay or mechanics of the game in the 3day trial.
Any critic that decides to base there opinion off a trailer is noobsauce. So since the OP based his opinion off a trailer he to is noobsauce.

Just finished reading this thread and i find it interesting that, you actually discus the substance of the intro trailer with such scrutiny, while you probably also buy tickets to the most sold movie this year " I am legend" that has what i would call a horribly lame excuse for ripping you off.
lest make a virus that makes people into a mix between vampires and zombies and then lets take a castaway that for some reason is a virologist that is immune to the virus. just the probabiliti of the the virologist being imune to the virus is amazing. 1% of the worlds population was immune and one of the the about 100 virologist part of the 1%. make the math..
but in the end its intertainment not a documentary.
I agree the story is thin but compared to all other storytelling out there is not the worst... far from it
Come on, I am Legend may not be a particulary good story or true to the book but it is lightyears ahead of the cheesy plot for this game. And Will Smith is an amazing actor, his effort alone is enough to make that movie good.

lightyears away ?? does not give it the right to be more or less cheesy, and just cause Will Smith is in it does not make it a good movie. I do though agree that hey heighten the probability
what im saying is that the shallowness of the trailer fails in comparison to the shallowness of the crap an everyday person actually wastes money on without even thinkin twice, because there is some sort of fake guarantee ( e.g will smith in this case)
I watched it yesterday and must say all the elements that actually interested me such as an american actor actually arguing that god did not exist or the zombie vampires actually having feelings and could think.. all these interesting details are just swept away by an explosion and a grand finish waving the american flag under god..................... that my dear friend is petty.
Now that is funny i am definatily going to have to use that line some time.

Things that happen in that movie arent all that unbelievable. A virus modified to cure cancer or other illnesses is something that scientists have been trying for years. And it able to mutate to instead becoming harmful is also a possibility.
However the virus turning people into superhuman freaks is where it gets carried away. And the movie not exploring the possibility that these monsters might be intelligent is another miss. However, come on, its story is way, way better than that crap that TR has. It sounds more like the makings of (untalented) a sci-fi geek.

imo the Movie didnt do the book justice. But thats me.
