I really hate the Arena's that WoW introduced...It's so restricted. I like my PvP spontaneous with the least possible amount of restrictions.
I know what you are saying.
Environmental PvP is so much more enjoyable than instance-PvP.
I remember my first WoW-raid. I had so much fun! It was a raid of people from various guilds, classes, etc. all together and we hit a horde small village. We slew all the villages and things and set the village on fire! When I saw the flames, I thought that was awesome. Then, they removed environmental PvP and replaced it with predictable, routine, same thing as yesterday PvP. Very strange. It is like WoW was, I thought, a great game until you reached Molten Core. Then, they began to change things such as PvP.
It makes me almost want to play WoW pre-TBC. The small-raid dungeons before Molten Core were awesome fun with story, named-mobs, etc. You did not need a lot of people, and there was some strategy to it, I thought. Oh, well.
----- WoW and fast food = commercial successes. I neither play WoW nor eat fast food.
I voted for combat, tho I literally flipped coins with classes and the world, cas' I couldn't decide between the three. I like having to switch things up with different combos, chains, weakness, stances, etc. Gives the player more of a strategy when fighting, as well, it's fun. I personally like the dot system. Overall, the game is very well designed, very ambitious and bold. Pvping could use some love to make it a better experience. But I still mainly play on Sartok (PVP server) cas' I rather have it than not, for the freedom. It adds another aspect of the game to think about. The only bad thing about Vanguard was it's release, ironically.

I definitely have to agree with you on Combat. It is more sophisticated than any MMORPG I have played, and I also think it is more intense and fun.
In Vanguard, unlike most MMORPGs where you pressed the same "Fire Bolt" over and over again, certain combinations of spells and abilities will enhance damage and achieve other effects such as "stun," "stagger," and others.
I really like it.

I like the worlds but I widh there was a better way to travle for those that have yet to reach 20th level. I would say the dugeons but the aggro in this game is awful and I have only been in one dugeon. I hope that in future releases they correct the aggro issue.
Well, I have to say the strongest point of Vanguard, for me, are the complex classes with many and interesting abilities.
I started a Warrior and thought "finally a straightforward class thats easy to play" but boy was I wrong ! He got like more abilities than my Cleric ! Who really suffers no lack of abilities.
Even my sorcerer - probably most straightforward class in Vanguard - has a couple of issues one shouldnt forget.
Thats IMHO like a game should be. Offering you many alternative paths of what to do, different strategies to try out, and events you have to react upon.
What I also like is the large, seamless world. OK its still not large enough for me, to be honest. But hey, its the best I can get. And its really made very beautiful, with many different area types, I love it.
Most important point I dislike is the lack of real PvP. Come on, whatever they have there on the PvP Server is NOT real PvP. Its not sportive. Its just completely uncontrolled hack'n slash.
Second most important point I dislike are the soulbound items. Hey I have nothing against the very concept. Allowing to bind your items to you is really not a bad idea. But the way its done now.. its awful. Before I was working on a good equipment for every level stage. Now thats futile. Just get to maxlevel ASAP and only then work on your equipment.
I voted for the world but really mean exploration. Another thing i think VG does well is th stats! only since the recent ranger changes have i noticed how much difference it makes. My make up was str sta and vit and i could comfortably stand toe to toe with an even level 3 dot in mellee. Now i have changed my stats to dex vit wis to become a ranged ranger i struggle in mellee with 3 dot evens. But i absolutely destroy them ranged. If i find area's that have outdoor 4 dots then great as long as im prepared theres no problem. Even outdoor mobs that are 5 dots can be handled ranged as long as they are no more than 2 levels above. but if i get caught in mellee i am dead in seconds. The point is that there is a great difference when you play with stats.
But i like the engine, the movement, the controls and the combat. I like the world alot. The graphics and music as well. I love the music. I love all these parts of VG.
I said dungeons as well ... it really makes me sad though ... advancement is so fast that you don't have time to really enjoy a lot of the great content before it turns grey. While I am not a huge fan of grinding away all day, I think that they could turn down the exp by half and still provide enough content that people would enjoy themselves.
This changes once you get past level 15, really. Also, they turned off the +50% XP boost we got for the holiday so things are slower. This allows you to just forget about gaining levels and just have fun questing.
But the game lacks any real social activities or player interdependency.
First, I've got to say I love the Misfits :-D
If you've ever tried to build a house you'd realize there is a ton of player interdependency. Also, now that Randolph is gone we now depend on ships more.
/region chat is extremely active. Even more so than, say, Elwynn /1 in WoW or /ooc in EQ2. Not to mention it's not nearly as acidic.
Originally posted by Nergle Classes is what I picked with races as a strong second. They went with a great idea when each race had different racial specials "loved my DE racial".
Uh... well... yeah.
I loved my racial too but IMHO they could really work on more differences for races than there are now.
Honestly, how you even get the idea that races would be any close as good as classes is absolutely beyond me. I mean, for starters, theres only ONE racial ability for each race. Other than that, its stat and skill differences. Meh.
At least my lesser giant has to use "crouch" a lot. I like that !

I voted in World, but thinking about "freedom".
Why i play Vanguard ?
Freedom > World > Housing > Classes > Crafting > Combat System > Mounts

1° the world !!! the WORLD
2° classes
3° craft + adventure + Diplomacy
Classes is what I picked with races as a strong second. They went with a great idea when each race had different racial specials "loved my DE racial".
Best world in an MMO ever.
