hoepfully a new player, some questions b4 i start.

Hello i wanted to ask a few things bout this game.  I have played EQOA(ps2) for 6-7 months, then shifted to the PC version for only a short couple months.   Soon after i got into FFXI with my bro, 5 RL friends and some EQOA buddys.  I stayed there for 2 years. For the past 4-5 months ive been trying other games out and none yet have grabbed me. Lotro/WoW/TR/CoH/EQ2...and a load of free games.   To be totaly honest i didnt enjoy the very causal, easy, and solo orientated style of most of these new games.   I personaly play MMO's for what its really about, doing things together, not a very expensive single player game.  Then i found how this has a good graphical style, lots of classes, and a big more "hardcore style" and world.

Well my first question before i start is:

1) whats the most populated sever (PVE)?

2)ive been thinking of trying 2-3 classes Druid/Bard/Monk...wich of those is more wanted by groups usualy, and are they overplayed?

3)is there any newbie friendly Guilds that wouldnt mind teaching me the Ropes (im not big w/ PC controls so i can get confused easy ><: )

4) i heard dark elf gets a wyvren pet as a racial ability (sounds awsome) is it worthwile and does it last, i played a Dragoon in FFXI and i love DPS + having my little buddy w/ me.

5)How is the population in general? is it mostly baren during certain points in the day (im on at random hours, but mostly late at night EST)

6) i hear alot about this "Dumbing Down" they are doing to make it basicly another WoW like game (sorta how EQ2 did w/ theres) ...is it true?

Thanks for all the info, not sure when im starting, gota find a copy of the game and exchange the crappy Video card i got. thanks see you soon i hope/

    1) Seradon is the most populated server from what I gather (there are no official numbers), closely followed by Xeth.

    2) All 3 classes are in demand, but at high levels Bards are particluarly superb in groups. As a result Bards are overplayed a bit, but its still certainly worth rolling one if your interested.

    3) I don't persoanlly know of any guilds that are taking in low levels atm, but there is a LFGuild tool that lets you browse guilds and their requirements, play style etc.

    4) Never played a DE myself so can't shed too much light on that one, but Ive seen the pet come out a few times in groups.

    5) Population is OK in my timezone (GMT +10), but on the odd occasion I log on during US prime time its fantastic.

    6) This is a hotly debated topic. It does seem they are smoothing some of the harsher edges of the game - but the devs have retreated a bit from their initial plan of 'dumbing down' due to the massive player outrage on the official forums. The game is less hardcore than it was in March, but I would still say its got some great hardcore aspects (death penalty, massive world, slower leveling, awesome crafting)

Hope this helps out - and good luck with your travels in VG

    Well done, Fischer.

I really cannot add anything to what he answered.

I hope you enjoy Vanguard.  I would suggest you begin crafting immediately and doing diplomacy.  It will be very difficult (impossible?) to level-up harvesting skills and things when you're near max.  Well, not impossible, but might as well level-up right away.
