Did AoC team said anything about freezing account?
ty in advance!
Since they do so in Anarchy Online under certain conditions, such as non-payment of account, account sharing, hacking, credit / item selling, botting, etc., I'd assume the same rules will apply.
So, which of these are you planning on doing, that you're so interested?
And freezing one's acc doesn't mean that you are baned, but that if you have prepaid acc and you take some vacations you can still play the game after, i don't know, 4 weeks (some kind of PAUSE if u get me).
Ah, you mean will they keep your characters if you cancel and come back? I would assume so. Their previous MMO (and most MMOs out there) keep character data indefinitely. It's win-win for customer and company since people are more likely to come back if they still have an older character to play, so it would be a big mistake to delete 'em.
Actually, I think what he means is this: If you are currently paying for an account, and have time left, can you suspend play of the account and resume the time he paid for later. A vacation in the middle of paid time would normally cost you that play time/money, but if you could "freeze" your account, you could play with that paid time after your vacation, but not during. But to answer the question, I have no idea, but I hope so.

I've never seen an MMO or any other monthly service do a 'vacation' pause its like asking can you pause my cable and give me those hours later. Is it out of the realms of possibility? No ... but it'd be a damn messed up billing process to keep track of all of that not to mention if there's benefits like xp rest bonus you wouldn't build it up because your account would be 'temporarily in limbo'. Gaining Money through Auctions, gifts from friends, mail from friends etc? Nope because your account would be effectively considered 'cancelled' aka not in use or veteran features you could miss out on because your account is a few weeks to young due to the suspension probably counting against you. Your either a paying customer with all the benefits or your not a paying customer with only your character stored. I'd much rather just pay for the week even if I'm not there so that when I come back my account age is higher, auctions sold or unsold have made me money, friends if they got something I'd been looking for were able to send it, etc etc.
Its a monthly service fee your paying 15 dollars a month for say 30 days that comes out to .50 cents a day. Economically it just seems more sound to keep your account fully active and get all the active but offline benefits. Atleast when you come back youll of built up rest bonus (if there is any), money if you had alot of auctions set up, and friends that need to send you things they found or harvested for you can send them to you instead of storing them and using up their own storage space. If an MMO's systems only worked when you were logged on (ie auctions only good when you were online, etc) I could see such a feature being favorable to the user but since every game have things that go on for your character even when not online and your account has to be active the user is more likely to loose out.

Sorry to be off topic a bit, but I keep seeing this term "rest bonus", "rest xp", etc. popping up more and more in different game forums. What exactly is this? You get experience for resting?!?

You must have never played WoW. I'm pretty sure blizzard invented the concept. Normally when new or existing MMOs opt for rested XP, players start to get unhappy because it's seen as the first step to the game's ultimate WoWification
"Rest" XP means that you earn double the amount of normal XP you would normally gain because your avatar has spent time, normally offline time, within a tavern or some special building that grants this bonus. For some games, people earn it simply by being offline, like in EQ2
However there has been no discussion about rested XP being in AoC.
Rest XP is, in fact, completely free XP you get from being offline. For instance, lets say you have 50/100XP until you level. You log off enough time to get 10% free XP. Since the maximum XP of your level is 100, that means 10XP. The system doesn't pay you directly, though. Instead, if gives double XP each time you kill something. So until you get 70/100 you'll get double XP for kills. You kill something worth 10 XP and it gives you 20 XP, which pays you the 10 you earned by resting. Then you no longer get double XP until you rest again.
Hrm, I kind of rambled there. Hopefully that clears things up for you. Rest XP is basically an incentive to log back in.

Never made it past the 3rd day of the trial for WoW before it bored me, so yeah I never noticed it there. It may have been in some of the other games I've played and I just never paid attention, though. Anyways, thanks for clearing that up. I now return you to your regularly scheduled topic, already in progress.

So, which of these are you planning on doing, that you're so interested?
yup, that question popped into my mind too...
You talking about a beta account being freezed or when the game is released?
i am talking about non beta accs, doh!
And freezing one's acc doesn't mean that you are baned, but that if you have prepaid acc and you take some vacations you can still play the game after, i don't know, 4 weeks (some kind of PAUSE if u get me).

Well... freezing accounts sounds like a good idea, really. But i dont know if it will be implemented.
As said I have never heard of any mmorpg that have done this, and I haven't heard any aoc dev said anything about it so I rather doubt it, very much.
