It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
since it's not SCS (are there some SCS?),
1) is there decay? Do items eventually leave the economy, what is there to keep players buying new armor?
2) does everyone have a crafting alt? Can you be a full time crafter and make loads of money? (I'm not a gold seller, after playing SWG I just want to play a game where you can become a server wide known name in crafting)
3) hunting for resources, do you manually have to out to the trees to get wood or the quarry for ore?
4) vendors or market place?
I know I could probably find out this information on UO fansites, but I find the best answers come from forums, especially people who played crafters.

1)Yes there is durability.
2) Im sure a lot of people do, I know I have a crafting alt. Yes you can be a full time crafter and make a fortune, and never have to fight if you don't want to. You can also (once your crafting skill is sufficient) put your name on your products, and enhance them. So yes you can become a famous crafter.
3)Yes you must manually do these things, chopping trees, mining ore, fishing, cooking, etc. etc.
4) There are npc vendors in cities, but most of the good stuff is bought from player vendors.
If crafting, and a skill-based non-linear sandbox style is attractive to you, you just hit the motherload. Hope I have helped.
Not trying to be pessimistic here but.
4) vendors or market place?
People still sell stuff or at least they leave runes all over Britian so you can recall to a house with 30 empty vendors in Malas. Malas = storage center.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

No, items have durability and they can lose it. But with Powder of Temperament? you can add durability and in the end weapons and armor stay forever.

Not everyone has a crafter, but everyone playing seriously has one. You can hardly make your name as crafter, but you can make one as trader. Only chance to make your name as crafter is to open a big mall and offer things reliable.
But the market for crafted items (unless endgame and so hard to achieve) is sort of non existent.
3) hunting for resources, do you manually have to out to the trees to get wood or the quarry for ore?
Yes, you have to go out there and collect it, which can be after some suilly changes very boring.
They made resources (coloured ore/wood) spawn randomly to make those resources rare.
4) vendors or market place?
Vendors
With AOS most crafters became either enhance bots (you take looted armor from monsters and enhance it - so it might be good) - or Bod collecting bots (BODs give the highest rewards in the game for crafters)
I would advise another game for crafters, as UO was once great for crafters but got nerfed to a pvm game.

I'm not trying to be rude. I'm just saying 95% of the vendors I come across and look at are either being used for storage(stuff is locked down on them not for sale) or have the "coming soon" empty thing going on.

hey guys,
I went back to UO about 15 days ago. I realy had this great urge to go back and visit UO. After what i saw, economy is dead. We still find some very well organised vendor houses at luna town center and around it. Prices have droped alot! That was shocking . I visited Europa, Legends, and 3 more shards, Baja seemed to be the crowdiest, but i didnt see many players over there as well. I wouldnt say that the game is empty , but empty and quiet comparing to my days. Houses everywhere, but most empty! Checked many house signs to see if anything worn out , or in state of collapsing. None, excpet one marble at yew , tramel near gate "empty". Dont laugh at me, but i made myself two tramel houses at moonglow and brit gate. Set myself vendors too .hehe I did lots of things, things that we get previllage of doing it only in UO . I realy hope that they change that sucky, old fashoined 2d graphic , improve other stuff and see us back.
see you around
I dont know why everyone hates on the 2D Graphics. I love those graphics and I actually look for other games like that. I think the majority of UO players are in love with those graphics too. As much as players complain about how bad it looks. if they were to change them in any way, they'd still hate them because its not UO.
2D for life!
