What are the differences between conjurer and necro (besides the starting areas)

ValanceValance Member Posts: 189

I like pet classes, and I was wondering, other than just the different starting areas (good or evil)and the pets looking different, how similar are the conjurer and necro classes? Do they pretty much have the exact same spells, just with different names and graphics? Or is one class more DoT oriented and the other is more pet buff, or something like that. Any info would be great.

Not so sure about the conjurer but the necro is heavy on poison dots, life taps, life transfers to pet, power drains.  stuff like that.  The necro does have a direct damage blast but I think most of the necros power is in dots and stuff.  I believe that a conjurer is more direct damage and AE oriented.  Also without the life tape type powers.

Actually you can learn more on this web site www.eqsummoners.com/

Also Conjurer's pet heal is IMO better than Necro's and doesn't take HP's away when cast as does the Necro.  This really doesn't effect the Necro too bad as they can imediately reclaim with a life tap.

necros pet healing is  *dramatically*  better than Conjuror if they spec in Tainted Heals AA

    eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Tainted_Heals

Each time you cast a manipulative spell, your pet is healed for 18% of its maximum health.

Conjurors have no pet heal AA

necros also get Feign Death at 40  - a life saving skill

The way I always saw and compared them...

Necro is like a wizard. Works well versus single targets and most of their moves are for 1 mob. This doesn't mean they excel vs multiple targets though.

Conjurors are more like warlocks. They have a lot more AEs and multiple mob spells. They still do extremely well against single targets too, though.

Conjurors are known well for their Call of the Hero spell where they can summon group members to them. Necros get nothing like that. Other than what I listed I can't really get into details.

Eq2ref has a side by side comparison for abilities of two classes.
