Newbie Questions - Server?

kikinchazkikinchaz Member UncommonPosts: 562

Hey everyone,

I decided to give DAoC a shot after being bored with all other MMOs. I purchased the game direct from Mythic for only £7 + All expansions which is pretty cheap considering the game is very hard to find.

My first question is, after using the downloader and being fully updated do i need to download any of those extra expansions or has it done it for me. I have no idea how to tell which expansions I have downloaded, however the game does say Labyrinth of the Minotaur when it boots up. But is that just due to the latest patch?

Also my main question is which server is recommended? I can only see 3 English servers. I read on forums that Classic was the best option to go for. But the only Classic servers i see have 10 & 19 players on, and are DE. I preferably want to join an english speaking server...and 19 players on an MMO? Thats gotta be Barren. I heard i want to be joining a US Classic server...how can i do that? Dont say i need to purchase the game again...

Don't quote me on this but I believe you need to get the US client and patch to their stuff so that you can play on the north american servers.  The Classic servers on the north american section have quite a bit more people on it.  When I played there it was fairly common for me to find people from Italy playing there and others from Europe as well.  The numbers during peak hours goes up to the 1800's I believe but that might have one down.  Check the herald for all the latest info.

If anything, go to the camelot herald and look around.  I'm pretty sure there is some sort of guide on how to get over to the north american servers or some form you can fill that will get you the feed back you need.

Regarding your expansions, the Labyrinth of the Minotaur is the last expansion.  If you are running that then you should be updated all the way to whatever patch was last issued.

I hope you find your answers and enjoy your time in the game.  I did when I was playing it and I did it since release for 3.5 years and then took a break just to come back 9 months later.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

You can always try to contact then via : http://support.darkageofcamelot.com/help/

Else you can always trade your account with someone else...  perhaps someone in THIS forum want an EU account!

    Good luck :)
