So, I like to role play. Really, I do. But I might reconsider that after my experience tonight....
Here is the "story";
I play a MALE dwarf on a RP server, and I was roleplaying in the prancing pony. Talking and bragging about the enormous warg I had just killed, nothing wrong here, right? Jesus no. A MALE human champion walked up to me and started to chat a bit, so I did my "I killed a bad-ass warg" story, and he listened and reacted normally, mature, and fun. Then all of a sudden he started to do more smile emotes, and stuff like looking at me from top till toe. Then, in the same mature manner he was talking to me before, he started hitting on me!
There was no /tell afterwards like; Sorry just teasing. Nothing. He continued his roleplaying and walked out the prancing pony.
People roleplay as gay hero's nowadays? WTF?
Anyway, opinions?-.-
edit// I did not actually feel harrassed, I only thought it was very funny and odd. So no more comments like; "Roleplaying isnt for you" anymore please

You're a bit narrow minded for a roleplayer, don't you think?
With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal
Sorry, but I'm not used to being hit on ingame(by a man!) Shoot me
Sounds realistic to me. I've seen lots of humans in real life who act immature and idiotic.
Maybe he wasn't roleplaying. Maybe he was tying to start a real relationship. I've heard of weirder things happening.
Is it me? I'm talking about male on male action in an mmorpg, roleplaying Hello!
Well, if he was trying that...I'm straight so
Sorry I guess I misinterpreted your post. I didn't realize he was making a pass at you.
In which case, "The Prancing Pony" sounds like the name of a gay bar.
For some of us, it's no less natural than girl on boy action. Either roleplay with it, out of it or just put him on ignore. Hell, for all you know, it was a girl playing a male character and you missed your chance with Heidi Klune. We get breeder shit thrown in our faces every day of our lives, we're the ones who should be offended.

Haha yeah, the prancing pony does sound gay...
Anyway, I hope people do know that i don't actually mind as in, feeling harrassed, I just found it weird that it was being doing in roleplay circumstances in an online game^^
Thank you for making this post I had a very long and good laugh.
Maybe your dwarf is putting out a gay vibe. What were you wearing?
HAHAHAA Exactly what I said when I first watched Fellowship. Yea that's right, I watched the movies before having read the books... sue me. Anyway, try playing on Landroval. The server has quite a few decent role players who just... role play... no 'cybersexoring'. That's just damn lame but... whatever floats yer boat I guess... good luck mate.
BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
Since when is that sexy?! Is it my beer belly?!
C'mon someone roleplayed a gay guy. And you as a "roleplayer" threw in the towel 'cause you got nervous by the other ones roleplaying.
Rp along, you could have offended him? Or something, dunno.
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
"You have the right not to be killed"
It also doesn't mean he isn't roleplaying. What if his character is gay? That would be staying in character and roleplaying.
lol I hope he's not a metrosexual dwarf.
dude you were in ''the prancing pony'' thats the gay bar of lotor.
playing eq2 and two worlds
Personly I find it priceless roleplay (if he was actualy trying to roleplay :P) and if it made you feel uncomfortable he clearly roleplay well. However to the person saying cybersex. Hitting on someone is not the same as having sex. I have read and seen my share of that though (most of the time the poeple where actualy drunk and not even under 18 years old :P) just fun as hell especialy if they do not realise half the poeple online are listening in :P
If you play on EU-RP server you will see a lot happening in prancing pony.
From attempts of murder, to gay evil cultists. Quite weird
That story definitely made my day...expect the unexpected and good RP ensues...

It has nothing to do with roleplay. Lotro is a medival environment. The whole game has no room for sexual roleplay in a public place like the pub.
Try to play a ladylike female elf and you will encounter a lot more harrassment. And yes, its plain harrassment. One out of hundred is able to pay attention to a lady. The others are just dorks.
I am not prude. Rolepleayed in another game that had a steam bath where the mercenaries and ingame mafia had parties with lots of booze and (almost) naked chicks in the pool. But that was, although public, a place where i knewed all players.
I also didnt mind the gay healer shouting "its smells get it off of me" in cartoony WoW. The dancing elves annoyed me to hell though. But WoW is a POP game and doesnt take anything serious. I dont really care what happens there and i left after 4 weeks.
However, real roleplay is immersed play within a world and its lore. There might be love and sex. But it is a private story and played in privacy or within a guild/RP event.
After all.. online is no place for roleplaying anymore. At least not for me.
Second, uhm... so let me get this straight, you were in the tavern where there is bound to be a variety of adventurers (Sexual orientations included) and you were bragging of your might and prowess.. trying to "impress" people, and when you uhm, made your impression, you do not like that someone was impressed and went with it? Not gettin that one. Sorry.
Whether the person was actually homosexual or not is really irrelevant. You were role playing, and when someone called you on it, you got scared. No offense, but maybe RP is not really for you? WAY back in the days of UO, I was uhm... best known for role playing a Lesbian character (I am male, and my lesbian mate was played by my RL wife) and I ended up with more than a few people who bought into the whole Lesbian thing. Women thought I was truly a "Man hater" and would rally behind me as a pillar. And men, being the pigs we are, would try to "Break me" of my lesbian ways. Either way, it was all in good fun. In the end, if you are in the game to role play, roll with it. Don't get yer cod piece in a bunch. Role Play for the sake of Role Play, and the next time you are hit on by someone who takes the bait you throw out with your lore, uhm, Role Play your way out of the mess you Role Played your way into?
All in all, great fun. All of you role players out there definitely keep it up. And everyone who reads this thread, go find this guy (Whether you are male or not) and give him some good "role play" lessons. (No, don't go cyber with him. Role Play. Eeesh, dirty bastiges.)
So you are surprised you got hit by another guy in a bar called Prancing Pony?
Seriously, think about it for a while.
Besides, who can seriously say they don't get gay-vibes from Sam and Frodo? Imagine what Tolkien left out of the story...
Stops that stuff cold

Thanks for your reply, but I don't think you understand that I'm not being 100% serious. Of course I like variations in roleplaying, but all in all this was a funny/odd experience in a game like lotro! So thats why I made this topic. Gay moves on a dwarf is odd, in my opinion. Never saw legolas hitting on gimli in lotr(or did I??)
It's not like I ACTUALLY felt harrassed. I was being funny. Or I was trying to. But yes, I'm still chocked, and yes roleplaying is something for me. I've done it a long time, but I never experienced gay people hitting on my dwarfs, sorry
Next time I meet him, I'll cut of his willy hit my axe!
p.s
I could also start spamming:
"Gay hero's unite! Only on friday nights; Thurstaldir the brave, hot dwarf pole-dancing in chainmail. Whoohoo! /rp off-.- "
