Your system and connection specs might be usefull if you want people to offer some help, without details it's hard to say what might be wrong.

I'm having a similar problem.  You can use F4 to see your network stats.  My problem is that I have absolutely no network ping.  Even when I hook the PC directly up to the cable modem and take down the windows firewall (don't do this at home).  Occasionally, I see some network traffic going up to them, but it just piddles out like a wet firecracker and I get DC'd.  So far playNC has proved they are not very good at tech support... the dope that is 'helping' is insisting on running DxDiag over and over again and keeps asking me to update my video drivers.  I think he's confused about video driver version and catalyst version.  But clearly they haven't responded to anything I've tried to explain network performance-wise.  I've had bright house over today to check my cable modem... they were nice enough to give me a new cable modem, despite there being nothing wrong with my old one.  This one just happens to have some sweater diagnostics tools built into it.  The rgtr.com web server seems to be performing like a web server under siege.  Just try submitting something through http://www.rgtr.com/community/feedback_form/tabula_rasa_feedback_form.html

This reminds me of WoW, when they have a network problem.... Although they seem to be a bit better at the support side (all be it, not by much, but then who is).  LOTRO and WoW don't seem to be having a problem, so I'm betting it's at playNC's servers.  However its just a guess on my part.  I am seeing over 90% packet loss at ae-0-0.pr0.atl20.tbone.rr.com [66.109.6.171].  This is using the utility that PlayNC recommends using to trouble shoot.  It can be downloaded from their support site at http://www.plaync.com/us/support/

At this point its like being at work…. So if the problem doesn’t go away, I’m going to have to turn off my account... the problem has been going on for over a week now and I can’t really see letting them ding my credit card again if I can’t play the game.

Be a shame for the packet loss to be a cause of the cancellation of the account. But having a quick search on the IP's there... that is nothing to with TR, its a routing issue which changes from ISP to ISP. Try talking to your isp to see if they can resolve it for you.

Here is a little more intel at least for brighthouse customers in central Florida.  I've found a few forums where bright house/road runner/earthlink customers are having internet connectivity issues.  In each case the problem seems to be stemming from the hand off between rr.com and llnw.net.  A prolonged analysis using pingplotter and visual route show upwards of a 30% packet loss.  I've passed this along to PlayNC, but they seem more interested in playing with MSCONFIG, DXDIAG, and HiJack this.  Apparently they don't read what you post in a help desk ticket.  The only reason I dived into this so deep is that it's affecting my work too (can't work remotely when the internet is jacked up).  Road Runner and BrightHouse won't openly acknowledge the problem.  Although I did the phone support to traceroute www.playtr.com and the citrix access portal for work.  In both case they did see packet loss.  But immediately they went back to pinging my cable modem and began attempting some jedi mind trick, telling me that they didn't see any problems.  Once again it seems to be affecting anything that passes through rr.com and llnw.net routing.  Hopefully it will get better over the next couple of days.  I'll keep raising hell and I've got the company I work for inquiring too.... A few more people calling might force someone to get off the perverbial couch and change the channel.

Having the same problem here as well.

Every other game I play runs smoothly from CD4 to Eve Online to SWG.

I even played my Guild Wars from NC Soft as well with no problem.

TR is definetly causing me some problems and gonna submit a ticket myself. I noticed a nasty ping of 500k.. haha even if there is such a thing.

I too live in the Orlando area where Brighthouse is a dominant carrier.

The things I did on my side.

    1. Reset the Cable Modem and Router

    2. Uninstalled and Re Installed TR on a clean slate.

    3. Defragged my system and resetted my Internet Explorer

    4. Crapped, showered and shaved and ordered out for chinese food

    5. Called my parents to tell them I am still alive and everything is ok in Orlando.

After all that, the game still game me a nasty latency issue.

I will submit a ticket as well as of right now too..

wow, i've been trying to resolve this problem with NCsoft too. I'm also located in central florida using road runner. they had me update my video driver and use the hijackthis program as well. Updating my video driver has seriously fucked my comp... sorry for the language but after dealing with the problem for days I am peeved, to put it lightly. So does anyone have any suggestions  on how to make the game playable?

    January 3rd, 2008

Well I submitted a couple tickets on this issue to NCSOFT and got a reply back from a tech.

I should know what the answer should be by tomorrow if we are lucky. However, I manged to log into

TR tonight and was definetly playable now. Still my ping was usually high, but not that bad 125 - 200

I am usually running at 65 - 80 ping rate. I dont know what brighthouse may of did, but whatever they or

NCSOFT did, helped out alot. That crazy 500k ping was just absolutely insane the last few days.

But, will keep us posted from here on out.

On the good side of things, I managed to rank a little higher in Call of Duty 4 with my downtime from TR =)

They seem to have fixed the connection issue but is anyone still having problems with their fps? Just a week ago I could play and rarely ever start chugging. Now I'm getting 10 - 20 fps and its still hard to play. Suggestions?

Here is my last interaction with NCSoft tech-no-support... I gave up with them... Thankfully, they're not doctors, I'd be screwed.  "Dear NCSoft .... I've found the problem .... please note the forum discussion at mmorpg.com slamming your crappy tech support.... now back to the problem ... there is a rip in the space time continuum located near Tempe Arizona.  Personally I think its a Bane staging point... sure it looks like Road Runner and Limelight Networks aren't playing well together,  but we both know the Bane are secretly sucking packets of data from the internet to power some super weapon... they want us to believe that it's just a busted router... but we know better.... I'm leaving now... I've left my parents basement and I'm taking mom's car to Tempe to stop this... they'll never see me coming.... I'll be wearing my gnome warrior custom I made for blizcon.. "

Having gotten that out of my system... here's something that may be helpful.  Anyone who feels like watching packet loss can dowload a copy of ping plotter at www.pingplotter.com  You can use www.playtr.com to diagnose a problem.  I'm not going to post the game server's IP, but anyone who has a port monitoring utility should be able to figure that out.  The problem seems to be on and off lately.  I just think it's a bit lame when they run customers through days of trashing their own systems when everything points to a network problem from the get go.  This concludes my rant in E minor and I feel better already.

LoL, PPLZ! I live in Europe, have the same problem with TR, only my lag starts within 5 seconds after logging in. The funniest thing is the is NO packet loss between me and their game server. And guess what? Guild wars' game servers are sitting in the same sub-network as TR's, yet I'm able to play GW @ 50 to 100 ms png... hell even the route is the same - same hop IP's. After submitting a ticket to their so-called 'support' and trying to explain what the problem is or isn't, they just told me that my ISP is to blame and that I'm the only 1 who is having such problems 'everyone else is able to play the game just fine'. Screw them, account cancelled!

Hmm if the ISP limits your traffic in anyway (ie p2p software) then unless the ISP is notified about the different ports that Tabula Rasa uses then it could indeed get "throttled back" which causes the lag issues.

    Dont believe me?

Then why is that in the UK, people on the TIscali (and now presumably their taken over Pipex) and Plusnet  ISP's (who are all well known for "traffic shaping")  have the most issues playing the game, yet the other NCsoft games have no problems with it? (again just google for "Tiscali gaming problems" )

Why is it that the game has issues with University networks and the game ports are required to be opened up just so you can go to the character select screen?

I can see why you would be annoyed, but in this case the ISP is indeed the one to blame.

Oh, that old lag problem? Here's an easy fix from the old days, works like a charm::

    1. Format your primary HDD.
    2. Spend about $700 upgrading your CPU, RAM, and video card.
    3. Switch your ISP to cable or whatever's new.
    4. Reinstall Windows on a clean partition, update to latest SP and download the newest drivers, malware, spyware, viruses, and various other goodies that come from unsecured internet pr0n surfing.
    5. Have a shot of Vodka.
    6. Repeat steps 1-5 until suitably drunk.
    7. Switch to Geico (may not be compatible with x64 systems).
    8. Install TR.
    9. ???
    10. Profit.

Should you get the error ##53-X: "You can't do that in horizontal mode", please repeat the process indicated in steps 9 through nine until something different happens.

If you still have poor performance and/or the fix did not go as planned, unplug the keyboard from your PC's PS/2 or USB port, hoist it above your head, and proceed to carefully pummel the side of your monitor (note: avoid damaging the anykey). Repeat as necessary or until rage subsides.

See? It's a relatively painless process, and best of all, you saved hundreds on car insurance by switching to Geico!

I experience this occasionally myself, I suspect it to be the game having a memory leak, the longer a program runs when it has a memory leak, the more the system starts to slow down- the Firefox browser does this and certain City of Heroes/Villains patches in the past has too. I'm hoping patch 1.4 will fix this.

During weekdays I normally ping 29-40ms but on weekends during peak hours (5-10pm Fri & Sat nights, 10am-3pm Sun) I get lots of lag (around 230-1Kms) due to my ISP not having the hardware to handle the amount of customers it has, and I'm on cable and I have no other ISP choices where I live.

just logged in to TR to do a little bane stomping and see the following message ... "ADMIN MESSAGE: Attention Soldier! AFS High Command is looking into the issues of lag that have been reported!  If you feel that you are running too slow or AFS NPCs respong to slowly simply pretend that time has slowed down slow motion is cool!"  Ok... using the same logic... lets pretend that my credit card authorization is feeling slow and that it is cool.  The game seemed to be playing well ping checked out good and routing seems to be off llnw.net.  I realize the problem isn't PlayNC's, but It would be nice if they helped out a little by pressuring road runner, bright house, and limelight networks to play nice.  I guess that's what's nice about blizzard... they can sick the horde on them.
