Played trial

scottless38scottless38 Member Posts: 1

Hi, I played the trial and at first was not that crazy about the game. The more I learned though and better I got at play the more I liked the game. I see all the complaints about bugs and lag also needing more content, but I think being a new game in time all will be worked out. I ordered a copy and should be here in a day or two and I think the game is simply fun to play.

    Hi,

Im glad to see you baught the game, and i thought i'd offer some tips, and advice. You will read alot of negative things on this site about the game, and a few positive things. Do not listen to all the negative. The game is a "good" game and is worth playing for a little while.

If you do deside to play, try to avoid the Cassio..forgot the last part of the name of that server, it's the lowest populated US(west) server, and once you reach a high level its very hard to find groups on that server. I had a lvl 25 and could not find a group to save my life, so i moved to Pegasus(US east), and now im lvl 31 and have no problems getting grouped being that the server is much, much more populated.

Once you make it to the Mires be aware that this map is extremely laggie do to a flaw in the map design that will hopefully be resolved with one of the patchs.

All in all the game is a good game, i used the first free 30 days to evaluate it and i was satisfied. I hope you like it, try not to be pursuaded by the negative comments on this site.

Best advice I can give with this game....head over to PlanetTR, Stratics or Ten Ton Hammer.  They are a lot more helpful and informative than the flaming trolls you will find festering this TR forum with their sarcasm, exageration and drama.

    Have fun!

ER, for a positive post, you sure did enough damage to discourage people from playing.  Comments like, "this is a good game and is worth playing for a little while", "avoid Cassio...very hard to find groups", avoid the Mires, as map is extremely laggie due to a flaw in the map"

Doesn't make me want to play.

I rather enjoy the community on this forum, just because people bash a game doesn't mean they are wrong, its just their opinion.

Yeah exactly thats my opinion, im just giving him a heads up as down the line it may be appreciated. If those basic tips deter him from playing the game, then he'd probably not play a game that where he reads a review of the game.

No game is perfect, and keeping an opened mind you'll realize that there can always be some sort of improvement, and that there may be a thing or two wrong with a game.

I said the game was good, and worth playing, its not like i said "do not buy this game". It would seem to "me" that based off your response that maybe you were looking for some thing to pick with. As that was some thing pretty small to respond to.

Not sure if you were trying to get your post up or what, but as one poster said you might want to go to another site mentioned to get help. Seems here when your truthful and try to help by giving warnings it always gets turned around or some one finds some way to stur up some kind of controversy. What a shame.

I bought the game about 3 months ago. I went from OMG I love this game for about 3 weeks then to mmm its pretty ok and now I am back to damn I love this game!  However I do feel that you need to be a pretty hard core Sci-Fi fan.  For me I have seen zero bugs, no lag and as far as content goes I am still on the second map out of about a dozen.  In truth I am on my second character but to play the same missions and still enjoy it means a lot.  The game is going to be hate or love for most but one thing it definitely is not is bugged up like Vanguard was.

Please note it does suck up about 1.7gig of Ram.  I use a 8800gt 512 card and I run it on max settings.  Even in busy zones its still up around 30fps.

I've been playing mmos since EQ first came out. Since then I've tried many other mmo games, some holding my attention for a significant time like daoc, eq2, and daoc. The rest were hit and miss. It seems the older I get, the less patience I have. Where I once relished the more social slow paced game, I now hunger for instant gratification. I have just enough time to get into a game, blow stuff up, and get out. I had all but given up on the genre. I've been playing Hellgate London, but that's not a true MMO, and its got its own issues.

I signed up for the 3 day trial of TR, and I'm glad I did. I'll admit the controls threw me at first, and I wasn't sure that I'd play past the first day. But by day 2, I was comfortable with the UI, and having fun.

I'll be picking up a copy of it later today.

Kaledorn you sum it up for me.  I have been playing games for over 20 years and in the past I loved the slow build up, chatting with clan members, drawing maps etc etc.  Now I just don't have the patience.  TR is instant gratification on all scales.  E.g. Before work today I jumped in for 15 minutes and had a major shoot out with a 'Bane boss'.  Blew his head off and then returned back to base...log off...go to work.  Suits my lifestyle perfectly.

This year to come...clan owned stations, mech units, more missions and content.  Bring it on!
