First of all, there is a little thing called Personal Preference. Which plays a pretty big role in choose one game over another. I do not believe that one person will be completely objective when it comes to determining a game, kind like trying to put Pepsi and Coke to the test.
I believe in WoW because I frankly have too much faith in Blizzard. However, I am also very skeptical.
StarCraft was the FIRST computer game that I ever played reguarly. Actually, I think it was the FIRST computer game for me ever, not counting all the little games that come with Windows. I enjoyed playing it so much that I became a huge Blizzard fan. However, when I bought WarCraft III, I was not as thrilled. I won't go into details as to why, but let's just say that my expectations were high and WC3 was letdown.
Now the same thing might yet happen to me again. Having played Diablo 2, a very-well made Blizzard game, especially for someone like me who never played Diablo 1, was for a long time the best experience of my gaming career. So despite my high enthuasim, I'm afraid I might also end up not liking WoW as much because of my extremely high expectation for the game. Even though WC3 is MMORPG, it is essentially a RPG. I want a new concept that keeps me hooked, not something that I am famailar with. I don't know if it will be an entirely new thing from D2. I only hope the advantage of playing with hundreds of players at once will be enough to keep me happy, because just looking at what the game has to offer in terms of basic mechanics, it is not very impressive for me, at least at this stage in the Beta.
EQ2, I just don't have enough experience with Sony. It definitely looks VERY impressive, but I've heard many bad things about SOE. Perhaps I will give it a shot a couple months after launch, after some fixes. Who knows.
Now I hope I can get into WoW beta soon so I can find out if I really like it or not. Open Beta seems so far away. Maybe I'll get chosen in this competition. Again, who knows
