Yes at the moment they are working on the charachter models so we should start to see these being improved pretty soon. Myself the problem was general walking and such. my rangers combat animation was quite fluid and in no means robotic. i think a lot of people get thier general prefferences mixed up with whats good and bad sometimes. For me the graphical style is fine whereas WoW is cartoony ( not that its bad thing just not my style ) and lotro was a mix somewhere inbetween, though i only ever played the free trial and someone told me that you dont get the full graphics in the free trial! not sure if thats true or not. bad marketting move if it is true as thats why i left after the trial period.
One thing i totally agree with is the actual facial features. i have played the same char since starting eq 10 years ago and want him to look really old and battle worn for my own RP purposes, even a few scars here and there. Come on soe there has been hundreds of posts asking for the same thing lets see some changes

Thats not true i tried the free trial for LotR and you can download the high rez client or the low rez client . i downloaded the high rez client myself wasnt that impressed with LoTR to tell you the truth game looked great at a distance but as soon as you got close to anything it looked bad
Ahh thanks i was beggining to wander if maybe i had written it of too soon. From what i saw there was a lot of colour but little of anything else. and wandering around trying to find where i was meant to go was a tad boring for me. i prefer to be able to go where i want rather than where they want me to go. Which alas is why i chose VG i can climb that mountain (which although static, show me a mountain that's not! ) i can go where i want in VG and like they say everything you see is there not just a picture. i can understand what they mean by the static graphics look good but animation is ugly though, not that i agree with them.
Now go back 3 months when i was fighting mobs and they didnt even move is different, that was so anoying. But that never seems to happen to me anymore.
Character animations are a work in progess. Some character models have great animations, others don't and are still unfinished. Monks are a riot to watch, all sorts of different animations that are actually very smooth. Sorcerer animation is a bit like watching grass go.
Originally posted by sifudoja When i used to play VG on a 7600gs and a P4 i didn't really think it looked THAT good either, i mean some things like the enviroment were better than most games, but i didn't think the graphics were near good enough for such poor performance. Even if i put the setting as high as they could go, it didn't look that good and played like crap. But, after i got a brand new pc, a C2D 6750 with an 8800 card and turned the graphics up to max the goodness really started to shine through. Things like the shader 4.0 on 8800s must really make all the difference. Now there are plenty of things i don't like about the game at this point, but i have to say graphics are definately not one of them. I think graphically, everything about this game blows away all other games i've played, and there isn't much that i haven't played. Sure there are games like Crysis and CoD4 that look much much better, but as far as mmos go, VG stands head and shoulders above the rest IMO.
VG doesn't use shader 4.0 it was only coded for shader 3.0. Also forcing AA in VG causes the floating character name plates to disappear in game.
Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.
