The "teenage" part is a bit unfair and unnecessary - teenagers can be perfectly mature and intelligent, just like adults can be immature and stupid.
This guy Sidoxs, however, is simply a jackass.
All the teenagers I know who play WoW are all fanbois. Teenagers can indeed be mature, but they don't have much opinions of WoW except that it's great. Speaking as a teenager myself.
Originally posted by Czzarre Warhammer will succeed because of one major design strategy. It isNOT WoW.
Then why did they go out of their way to make it look like WoW? DAOC doesn't look like WoW. The original Warhammer MMORPG didn't look like WoW. They made it look like WoW because they know WoW is a huge hit and the same visual style would be quickly accepted by all the 9 million WoW players. So they exploited WoW's look for their own personal ggain... not that there's anything wrong with it...
and I can almost gurantee you that the game is going to play and feel much like woW does too.
they went out of there way to look like wow?
are you stupid
the character models for warhammer have been in production for years as models and if anything WoW stole from warhammer

uh im a teenager and i hate WoW more than i hate richard simmons. WoW sucks ass and all the people who are constantly telling me its great need to die in a slow and painful fashion
The original Warcraft game (The RTS) game was originally suppose to be a Warhammer game, but for whatever reason, Games workshop broke the deal and then Blizzard came up with their own lore for the game and renamed it.
One reason why even know that Warcraft and Warhammer have similar looks, even though you can plainly tell (If you've ever played a Warcraft game aside from WoW) that blizzard has developed their own look for Warcraft over time.
And a big reason for wow's "Cartoon look" is because it's easy on the eyes and it's easy on the computer - you don't need the latest computer to run the game. One of the reason why WoW is simply destroying other mmos. (I remember when Vanguard was suppose to destroy WoW. that made me laugh.)
And the biggest reason for wow's success is not because of all the "Teenage fanbois" although there are many on the game. It's because it's so easy to get into and play. Sure, it's a simple game, but that's good for people who like these times of games but don't have the time to spend on building up characters.
And this is how WoW gets it's large player base.
So, what Mythic needs to worry about is if this game is going to have a large appeal and if it will be one of those mmo's you can jump right into like wow. Because if it isn't, it's going to fail, and all of those people who have been waiting for this game will be re-subscribing to WoW or whatever game they came from.
And I would like to add as being someone who is a big Warcraft fan (Not just World of Warcraft, but Warcraft lore in general.) that Warcraft and Warhammer will be completely different games.
The only thing they really share is looks. (Barely.)..And comedic orcs.
Just a quick note its not bad or making you a poor MMOer(is that even a word at all?) cause you like WoW. I've played plenty of MMO's and I liked WoW for the time I played it, its a good game.

Yeah, people think that just because it's not overly complicated or doesn't have the usual dull fantasy look that it's not a true mmo.
I feel that WAR will be a successful game in it's own right. It will fill a needed niche for those that enjoyed the RvR that DAOC popularized. I expect it to have around 750k subs around launch, perhaps even gaining close to a million initially. However, this is not the WoW killer you seek. The reason for this is quite simple. It will not bring the casual player, the uber raider, and the 40 year-old housewife together like WoW has. I am no fanboi by any means but WoW has appeal to people from all walks of life. WAR will cater to those familiar with the property, long time rpgers, and hardcore pvpers. These people make up a much smaller part of the WoW fanbase than would be necessary to bring it down. It may make a dent but it certainly won't bring about it's demise.
I will try WAR because I am an old school rpger, former DAOCer, and I enjoy pvp. But I realize I am also the minority in the gaming community.
This is a game i have been eagerly waiting for, but i do have my doubts about it. Fact is, every mmo that has been highly anticipated has also been found wanting/lacking.
Though mainly the only reports that have gone against the game is it being too much like WoW (that doesnt bother me in the slightest) as long as the game is good and balanced, i am hoping it has good PvP/RvR and comming from the makers of Daoc i think it would be reasonable to say it would be good. Daoc was the 2nd mmo i ever got to beta test (5mths closed 2-3 weeks open) and then almost 2yrs live, only game that has lasted longer is World of Warcraft and that was one i didnt get into beta for. The 1st one was Legend of Mir II which was the 1st mmo i ever played online too, but only lasted about 3-4mths live (double the beta time).
Still, if there was any really bad things about the W.A.R, i am sure many places would have been flooded by those reports by now. Unlike AoC that has had a few bad reports, ones that say (and are backed up by other posters) saying that it is another vanguard (and thats enough to deteur me) or at least to wait for a few mths after its initial release for this one.
I still havent given up hope and one day being able to get into some sort of beta stage with W.A.R, if i do pre order (most likely to happen) and it does suck (hope not) then i will not pre order an mmo again as i would be tired of getting burned for purchasing a game i have not looked at, especially for teh price they are, and you cannot return these back to the store if you didnt like them because of the cdkey they come with.
hence y i play WoW at the moment, it runs very smooth, if u tap the W key it will move a very little bit forward, its not trailed like every other game... i cant stand when i press W and it moves like two steps >_>

Huh? The only MMO I have ever played with movement like that is RF Online, every Asian MMOs like FFXI don't have that type of movement...
RF Online. It took ages to get that on my computer just to be a huge let down.(And most free Asian mmo's have the click to movement. Which I hate. It was good around the time of Diablo and Boulders Gate, but not in this time. Just makes for horrid movements and crappy camera angles.)
...er, anyway.
He's saying that WoW is a very polished game, which in most cases it is.
And from the looks of WAR, it looks just as polished.
I think Warhammer will succeed because the developers actually make sense when you hear them talk in interviews.
All you had to do was try to make sense of one of Brad McQuaid's long-winded interviews to know that Vanguard was going to have problems. You can see the same pattern in several other MMORPGs in developement.
I'm following WAR because it's one of the only MMORPGs I've found where the developers don't leave me thinking WTF after they've had an interview or posted something on a forum.
I don't know if this is true, would like someone to say if it is or isnt, but 2 people yesterday told me not to hope for a quick release as the game has a couple of flaws and is going to be put back again by a significant ammount of time because they want the game to really stick it to WoW. Though i can understand this, i havent found anything but pretty good reports about the game so far.
Anyone else heard any rumours that the game may be postponed again?
