Which side you gonna pick?

As above it is Order and Destruction. Chaos is one of the main factions within Destruction.

There have been many polls about which class/side people are going to play (Made entirely of players who are not in beta). I think it is safe to assume that the majority of players will play DESTRUCTION and that ORDER will be underpopulated in the beginning. Chaos will likely have the largest population followed by greenskin and dark elves. For whatever reason it seems dwarves will be the least populated. Many people have mentioned that  The Dwarf classes and screenshots seem bland compared to the other classes/races.

Now, this is my speculation. I could be WAY off. However, when I get my hands opn the game...I will make a beeline right to ORDER. I LOVE playing the less popular race, or the underpowered class and suprise everyone with how well I do. Besides I wont have to worry about competing against 10,000 players for killing lev 1 rabbits to complete the first quest.

I'll be curious to see the results of this poll because I've guessed that Chaos will be the most populated come release.   I've seen on some other sites that Chaos is usually the popular pick for these polls.

Time will tell, but my feeling is that Order will eventually outnumber Destruction by a small percentage -- although this may differ on a few servers.

The reasoning is this:

~ Players like "pretty" races.  And come retail release, when many brand-new players enter the game (rather than fans who are following the development of the game), they will usually gravitate toward the pretty races.

~ Both Greenskins and Dwarves will be in the minority on all servers.  They have their big fans, but they are not pretty.

~ Empire and Chaos (both Human) will attract many players.

~ Dark Elf and High Elf (both pretty) will attract many players.

Anyway, that's the way I see it.

If I knew you personally I'd bet you money that you are dead wrong.  Every MMO that has come out with a good and evil side that I know of has always had these polls.  In the polls the 'evil' side wins hands down but at actual launch it is the good side that has a disproportionate number of players.  I think the key reason for this is the the polls are not a realy sampling of the player base.  People who read these forums make a up a tiny fraction of the actual players.  It would be like asking a single block who the next president was going to be and assuming the rest of the country will follow that block in the way they vote.

At this point I want to go Chaos, but in the end, its up to my guild in which side we will choose.

Keep in mind also, that any polls conducted at various locations are only being answered by the people looking into this game prior to launch.  Once it comes out you will have a huge influx of people who know nothing about the game joining.  Generally the more hardcore/dedicated players get their information early, any surprise we're more interested in destruction as well?

The dynamic of good vs evil in relation to casual vs hardcore gamers, and sometimes even young vs mature, has been written up in various different ways.  I have read a few; and being a person that played Alliance (due to knowing people), agreed with a lot of them from my experiences between Alliance and Horde (yes this is about WoW).

The basics were: Children and casual gamers preferred to pick a pretty class, or one they could identify with.  Kids are growing up, good is still considered 'good' in their eyes and they always want to be the good guys.  As people get older, they get sick of being good at the office/place of work and want to be the evil ones!  These people are attracted to interesting, if not more complex classes, rather than just the basic 'prettyness'.

 

tldr: In short, I'd expect nearly every poll of a pre-release game to reflect the side that the majority of dedicated players have picked.

(Not nocking you Order guys, speaking of what has been viewed thus far.  I'm really hoping there's going to be some skilled and dedicated opponents.)

Yep, this is the way I feel about it.

Take as many polls as you want now, but it will not reflect what the playerbase will be like at retail release.

I promise you the vast majority of people who will play WAR in the future will:

~ Not be familiar with Warhammer.

~ Not be familiar with Mythic's Dark Age of Camelot.

They will come to the game as super-fresh newbies and will ask such delightfully stupid questions as:

~ My character only can walk ... how can I run?

~ How do I get into combat mode?

~ What does AFK, STFU, RTFM, Linkdead, Pwned mean???

~~~

And don't forget to reply:  "LOL STFU and RTFM noob!"

Wow, Order is winning 57% to 43% now. This is the first poll I have ever see it ahead in.

Granted, the total votes are low and the poll is worded incorrectly (should be "Destruction" and not "Chaos", though I think most people understand what it is supposed to be).

At any rate, I have no doubt Order will have greater numbers than Destruction once WAR releases. Even as a worst-case scenario they will be even. Well, even is actually a best-case scenario, but you know what I mean.

Dwarfs and Greenskins will both have fairly low populations due to the "ugly" factor, High Elves and Dark Elves will be friggin' massive due to the "hot" factor, and Chaos and Empire will be in the middle, due to the "average human" factor. As a whole, though, Order should come up ahead, especially with females since there is more choice on that side. After all, Greenskins are all male (well, masculine, anyway) and half of the Chaos careers are male only.

It is tragic that I have my heart set on Order, because I would prefer to even the numbers, not sway them further to one side, but I have no interest in Destruction. They are cool, and have great lore, but playing the bad guy does not appeal to me in the least, and never has. With a lot of instancing and such, I am sure populations will not mean much, anyway.

I don't think WAR will have a problem with balance between realms.

I am choosing Order at the moment because I like Warrior Priests.

Although, if order is overpopulated and I am continuously running into Warrior Priests, I will join Destruction in a heartbeat.

Black Guards and Sorcerers look very nice.

Well, I love being at the front of the battle and armor is a BIG factor for me (luckily every class in this game looks pretty cool) so I'll probably be a Chosen or Black Ork.  Although Warrior Priests, Squig Herders, Disciples, Heretics, Maguses, Witch Hunters, Mauraders, and Engineers draw my attention too... (I'm not much for the pansy High Elves... except if the White Lion class is what the last class is, I'd be interested in that too, )

There are just too many classes I'm sure my first month or two will be just for trying them out, lol.
