Topic PVP overrated.

To start with i didn't enjoy seeing so many PVP questions in the Q/A.I think most PVP'rs would call themselves hardcore correct?Well the point of making a great game is to add tons of content, tons of exploration tons of fun/seriousness.

The problem with PVP is that for these so called gotta have/hardcore players ,they will never enjoy a fully polished product. They are like V-lining to a target foe and that is all that is on there mind.Really what is the sense of making a fully detailed world if your only vision is laced onto a target?

I have said this many times over and over, that playing PVP is nothing more than a first person shooter because you are not enjoying the entirety of the devs hard work.

PVP needs properly laid out maps that are designed to make PVP skillfull.Well the devs make a game with a vision to portray there story like in this case SGW.Why should/would they sway from that design to make a totally unrealistic map that has nothing to do with SGW just so some peeps can have a skillfull PVP?

Guys/gals i play unrealtournament all the time ,i logoff MMORPG's when i want PVP and play it where it belongs in a FPS.

I do realize that SGW's tv show is about some killing therefore it should have it,but at the same time, wouldn't it be totally ridiculous if every single person on the show just started killing each other?Hmm i tried to make sense to the hardcore PVP'rs that can't seem to grasp why PVP should never be FFA.I'm glad there gonna lump all the said minds into a FFA server so they can all play a boring game of pew pew .The rest of us will try to enjoy the thousands of hours of hardwork the devs put into the game.

PvP is not like that at all.  For good, actual, RPG PvP, content is hugely important.  That is the sort of PvP where you fight across the world, seeking to claim territory for your own.  Imagine assaulting a base, stargate style.  Teleporters, those flying ships, etc. Fighting through the corridors of the mothership, seeking to get to an engine room/control center to destroy it (which might despawn it from the game world for a few days or a week).  Other players fighting back to keep their base alive, guilds calling in favors, making alliances, teleporting into the system through stargates.

Imagine the sense of accomplishent you'd get when for the next 2-3 days you can see pieces of the mothership breaking up in the atmosphere.  Or when you finally drive the humans back to the stargate, and eradicate their colonies, winning the planet.  Its very different when its against real players - these accomplishments tend to linger, even as others fade.

I'd agree if its just "Capture the flag, WSG style" don't bother, but if there's an actual PvP planet or two, with real, PvP objectives that really change parts of the world, and involve a full knowledge of the area, its amazing.  Imagine for a second you could enlist the locals to fight beside you, if you completed some quests for them, or terrorize them into submission by kidnapping their leader, or something.  The entire planet would be very interesting, and each fight would be different.  Because of the stargate mechanic, it would actually work well - you could have a PvP planet where the fight could naturally last a week or more, or simply be an ongoing war, but never spill beyond the bounds of the planet.

People play mmorpg also for the immersion factor. As we all watch the TV series, there is constant battles going on different planets / galaxies with different factions. If the devs can capture this type of magic into a mmorpg with some PvP implemation, you will have a winner.

<Faction> Player controlled planet locations equally to the faction that owns the most territory on that planet (Hence P4X-650 - Tauri controlled) .. (P3S-114 - Go'uld controlled).

Even the entire planet itself would be nice and a huge challenge to liberate it from other player factions, throw some PvE missions that are vital to helping out the cause to take the location / planet over. Give out rewards for doing such a feat.

To strive to takeover a location or planet should have immense rewards and perks so people have something to achieve and show for it in the game (and to WANT to take it from other players).
