Ok, normally I wouldn't do this, I'd just on a random server and see how it goes, hopefully finding some like minded folks. However the sheer number of servers available is making it hard to choose one. So I thought I would put the question to you all to recommend a server to try.
I'll be mostly looking for PvE, eventually end game, but I'd like to see the stuff that used to be end game as well. The server has to be PvE or RP, no PvP servers. I prefer horde over alliance, dunno why, just always rolled horde (Love my Tauren druids!).
Currently I'm trying my luck on Arathor but after being repeatedly ganked at crossroads by hunters with something that spawns snakes, it is really getting on my nerves (I'm not PvP flagged or anything, it appears to be a loophole in the system that I can't believe exist still). I may continue on Arathor since I know someone in the real world that plays there, but right now it isn't looking good.
Anyone have a recommendation based on all of that?
Thanks ahead of time,
Kedoch

By the way, they can't just drop a snake trap and you'll trigger it. What happens is that they drop a snake trap and then get something to trigger it, like an NPC, but once the snakes are triggered and they kill whatever triggered the trap, they'll go off looking for other things even if their PvP flag is not set. I'm sure it will be corrected soon.
But I just re-read your post and I won't be much help on a suggestion... since I only play on PVP servers. Low pop pvp servers are really not to bad as far as ganking, Most of my 70's have been leveled on a low pop pvp server with no issues.
I used to play on Feathermoon, it's a RP server and seemed to be a fairly large pop server.
www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php <--- good resource as far as pop/guild info.
I would suggest if you find a pop you like from the site that you look on the wow forums, at that servers community forum, (don't post a "i'm looking to move here post", most ppl that troll those forums are just bored and like to be rude) I think almost every forum maintains progression lists..
Thanks Amy_jo! I appreciate the input and the census site is very interesting. At the very least it should help me find something perhaps a little more horde friendly. I wouldn't be averse to a PvP server entirely but certainly it can make learning a little more difficult without a good support group (like a guild or group of friends.) So they aren't my first choice when I'm still picking up the basics.
Also to answer something else you brought up. High/Mid/Low pop doesn't matter a whole lot to me, they all have their own pros and cons, and I don't really have a preference towards one or the other.
Anyway, thanks again, and if anyone else has a suggestion of a server that is more horde friendly I'd appreciate it.
I wasn't aware the ability was that new, but I have been around long enough to know that new bugs do crop up. Guess I've just gotten unlucky with the griefers in that respect. It is also good to know how the mechanic of it works a bit as well, may help me avoid it (though it's hard to out run mounted hunters.) Thanks though!
