What's the best server for US West Coast?

TyrranosaurTyrranosaur Member UncommonPosts: 284

Okay, I bit....I installed LOTRO yesterday and got some play time on break today from work. Lemme say, it's a very smooth, fun game, nice interface, and the DX10 graphics are stunning. Now, I picked a random server (forget the name atm) and it seems largely abandoned....although admittedly I was playing during lunch hour, so who knows.

Question is: can anyone reccommend a good, busy server? I'm in the US West Coast (New Mexico) and would like to know where all the action is....

There's no servers specific to regions of the US. The more populated servers are Brandywine, Elendilmir, Landroval, and Silverlode. At least, that's what I've gathered from talking to other players. I'd pick one of those, with Brandywine being at the top.

You should also be aware that in the starting areas, there will always be less people, regardless of which server you play on, so that could be a factor too, if you picked one of those servers already. The time of day matters too. Primetime across the whole US would be from about 4 PM to 9 PM Pacific Time (I think that's the time zone for New Mexico - if it's mountain or central, add 1 or 2 hours respectively)

Brandywine is without a doubt the most populated. I just created a few characters there the other day and even in the middle of the day there are people in the early areas of man and elf.

Landroval was good as well, but keep in mind that it's the unofficial RP server. Not saying they dislike non-RP players, but just something to keep in mind.

I also played on Silverlode and Elendilmir and both are active, but not nearly as the top two.

I agree with the above posts. I picked the game up mid-December and chose to play on Brandywine. It is a very active server at all hours. I haven't had to wait more than few minutes for a group since I started playing and the starting zones are quite hoppin'. This tends to make resource gathering interesting at peak times in the more populated zones but the world is so large that it isn't that bad. Also, quest mobs tend to respawn at a good rate and people are more than willing to join up with you to take out said mobs so have no fears about having to camp a spawn point for 30 minutes just to finish a quest. In this game, a busy server equals an excellent choice and an enjoyable experience.

I play Brandywine, since about August of last year and it's a HUGE server.  I absolutely love it too.  Lot's of good people, and the feuding kinships on there are the greatest ;) haha.  I'm a member of FATE myself.

Any of you guys that want to look me up feel free to.  My full title on there is:

Sergeant-At-Arms Elynole Shroomstamper, Executioner of the Wicked

I'm pretty hard to miss ;)

I just left the Brandywine server due to OVERPOPULATION. Just giving you a heads up that server is freaking loaded with people it borders on the insane. I ended up rerolling new characters on Landroval and am much happier with the size of the population. I would stick with the server you chose in the beginning. Once again just my humble opinion.

P.S. This is not a swipe at Brandywine I enjoyed it there but just too crowded. I do log in there every once in a while though.

In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.

I agree with this as well.

Brandywine is unquestionably the most populous of the servers... but depending on the time you play... that may be a bad thing.  I'd check out some of the other servers (Landroval, Elendilmir, Silverlode) during the times that you will be playing most and see if the populations are what you think are acceptable... if not... then go for Brandywine... and good luck!
