Someone explain the Diplomacy system please>?

I've heard that this is a really unique part of the game - this diplomacy system. Can anyone explain it to me?

Thanks.

You play a card game that takes the place of conversation.   For the first 5 levels there is a string of quests that you complete by winning these conversations.  They reveal some lore about your starting area.  After that there are a few more quests spread around that have a bit of a story line to them but for the most part you will have to move to civic diplomacy to continue to advance.

Civic diplomacy is conversations with residents of the cities the same as you do in quests.  There are different groups of people called stations that you talk to like nobles, crafters, soldiers, etc.  Winning these conversations gains you presence with the station which are prerequisites for the quests, it can also put up city wide buffs that can help adventurerers or crafters.

The biggest problem with diplomacy is that there are not enough quests.  In order to level and gain presence in to be able to do the few quests in the game you will have to put in hours of civic diplomacy.  These conversations are maybe difficult the first time or two you try them but after that you figure out the system and can easily beat them every time.  There are tons of things to grind up in the sphere but not really any point to them.

It may be unique but it's uniquely boring unfortunately.  It had promise but unfortunately it's another one of Vanguards failures
