I would say yeah its worth buying, me and my bro used to play it, we played for about 4-5 months from release and it was greeeat. There arn't any levels as far as I can remember, instead there are skill points which increase and improve your skills unlocking new abilities etc the more you use that skill. There are a variety of proffessions that will keep you interested in the game for a long time, things like Artisan (A starting profession) with skills such as Tailoring, Building and others that when you master them in Artisan let you progress to a more specialised profession in that skill.

Anyway its a great game, loads and loads of quests to do, leveling isn't really boring at all, raiding the Tusken Camp is pretty fun, if you do play it I suggest being a Creature Handler, i dunno if they've nerfed them now, but back in the days they were verrryyy good. I had a pet Rancor, and it ripped most people to pieces. PvP in the game is also pretty fun, especially being a commando and TKA, you can flame people that are melee's from a short distance and if they decide to attack you back in close combat rather than run, you just put your flame thrower away and beat the utter crap out of them (When I was a 2/2/3/3 I beat my Master Polearmsman guildmaster with barely taking a scratch.)
Again though, TKA's have probably been nerfed with Commando's.

It's worth a try defiantly. I loved it.

Save your money!  Not much in terms of content.  How many times can a group of 20 own Deathwatch Bunker over and over again and still have fun?  Not too many.

    AMD Athlon 64 3000+
    ASUS K8V MB
    1 GB Kingston DDR 400
ATI Radeon 9600 XT 128 MB
(eVGA 6800 GT 256 MB on the way!)

You should download the trial and see for yourself what you think.

I personally love the game.  I've been playing since day 1 and opened a second account in December because you can't eat just one! image

Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.

It's quite fun. I play it for 6 months and quit the game. the character leveling is base on the skill that you pick.
The game content wasn't very detail & impressive. I hope they are improving now.
I play at chewbacca and play up to Master Creature Handle and it's quite a challenge to tame something aggressive.
If you a starwars big fan, you should try this game at least. Goodluck

Pretty much what others have said. Download the FREE trial and judge for yourself. Ignore the complainers because they usually have nothing constructive to say and like to bitch about everything. You'll find this in SWG and the current Holy Grail of MMORPG's Everquest. I personally enjoy SWG. I think people need to give the game a chance. Many left(because they couldn't become a Jedi in the first 2 hours of play) and are now coming back.

Personally, I love it. I'm still on my 2-week trial, and I WILL be buying it. It's such a refreshing break from the level grind that I'm used to from other games. As far as content......well, like I said, I'm still on my trial, but it seems to have a LOT of things to do and a lot of items.

Forewarning....make sure you have a gigabyte of memory, or you'll find moving around in crowded cities very annoying. Btt seeing as the newer generation of games are packing in more and more textures, this should be a requirement for real MMORPG players anyway.

But by all means, play the trial first. It's not for everyone.

Visuals in this game are excellent. Something that sets apart from MMORPGs that I've seen, that tend to simp on the graphicas a bit. SWG has created a vast world with rich, incredible detail. That's one of the things that immediately caought my attention. That and being a Star Wars fan, anyway. :-)

The game was fun for a little but the lag is unbearable. It lags more now then back when the servers were all crowded.image I meet all of the recommended requirements except that I have 1.4Ghz processor instead of 1.5ghz. I dunno... I couldnt really play when I came back for the reactivation for old players thing. It might be better now content wise but the performance issuse were so bad that I couldn't tell. Maybe ill try the 14 day trial to give it another chance...

Do not hate it, but instead embrace the diversity.

  •   To any of you complaining about the lag in SWG.

Current Recommended memory requirements are 1 GIG or more.

If you meet the processor requirements, and graphics card requirements, but not the memory requirements then you have not met all the requirements.

No. It's not worth buying untill maybe the Jump to Lightspeed expansion...And even that might suck. And if it does then SWG is done for. It's the own DEVs damn faults for givin so much love to the jedi and neglecting all the normal professions. PVP sucks, PVE is repetitive and boring, missions lack ANY kind of dynamic. Only 3 or 4 professions are any good in PVP and so eveyone in the game has basically the same template with the exception of crafters and entertainers. Just wait for the space expansion, and hope it doesnt suck.

Here's a thought... imageimage "Why do all the people who hate SWG still post in the discussion?"

Well that's simple Billy... "It's because they are retarded!"

    Wow thanks!

Get the free trial and judge for yourself. I played for about 4 months before I ifnally quit the game. It was a lot of fun at first then unbalanced PvP the whole jedi thing and more just started to turn me off to the game. I also found the content a bit lacking. There are lots of really cool things such as player cities, vehicles and more. I find that SWG is more about living in the star wars world and almost working there found the game to become more like a job then fun at the end. But it will be fun for awhile so give it a shot.
