I wasted two hours downloading it and guess what? I can't get past the login screen! No explanation message or anything, just "unable to connect to server."
Don't waste your time or your money on this one.

It seems that you're having a network connection problem.
Allow the TR client to access the Internet by reconfiguring your firewall (most firewalls, when an application is trying to connect to the Internet, alert you of this if it has not accessed it before, through your network connection), and then, close and re-open the program and attempt to log in.
YOU WASTED 2 HOURS, who say's everyone who is or is gonna downlad the trial to have similair problems?, i mean are you new to games? If you not new to games then i do not understand someone making a whole topic about this.
Aslong it's not everyone that has this problem i see no need to make a topic that simply does not make sence....oh sure there are others that MIGHT have similair problems, but that doesn't mean you can now wanr people to NOT download/install the game.
Is this where it comes to with people these day's, they feel some urge to write something on a forum regardless it makes no sence?
If you would have made a honost topic and for example asked if others would have problems and if you would have asked for some help or info in trying to figure out what went wrong with you, then i could consider this a good topic but this what you said in topic simply like i said MAKES NO SENSE!!!
I can find lot of problems in TR but this is definitely not the one, i never had any problems loginin into game. It was probably daily maintenance and every game has it including WoW.

Heh, these threads always make me laugh - how can it ever possibly be a waste of 2 hours unless you sit there watching the download bar for every second of the 2 hours, if you do this then your wasting more than just time...
Modern computers these days can do more than one thing at a time, browse the net, watch some youtube, do some work - seriously if your computer cannot do this then i doubt it has enough hard drive space to even install the game, let alone the minimum specs to run ANY modern game, go get lemmings on floppy or something.
Then theres also the other option of actually doing something 'away from the computer', wash your car, walk the dogs, go for a jog, socialise, ...go outside.... live?

- Time? Did you sat down and watched the progressbar all the time until the download was finnished?
And as everyone else already said, check your firewall/router etc, if all that's ok maybe you should do some tracerts to the loginservers or anything like that. Could be that YOUR ISP or some router along the way currently have an issue. Don't be so quick to blame in the future.
