Your "inside source" is probably just someone with an opinion on the "state" of the game.
I believe everything's pretty much on track for March 25, but unless Funcom themselves say something different, we'll never know. Anything else is speculation.
I dont think funcom has the money to delay it again. The last delay cost them a lot of money not only in added development time but also in their stock value.
Agreed. Another delay would be catastrophic for Funcom.
When the last delay was announced, Funcom stock dropped about 20 points. At the moment, shares are sitting at ~25 points after gaining ground very, very slowly since the delay was announced. Another delay would kill Age of Conan and leave it dead in its tracks; investors would pull out and so forth. Why would anyone want to invest in such a thing again?
Between now and March 25, Funcom devs are going to be hard-pressed to get things release-ready, even if that means retailing a client that's eight or nine out of 10 rather than 10 out of 10 (where 10 is as bug-free as you can possibly make an MMORPG these days). By hook or by crook, we'll see Age of Conan on March 25.
I agree with the other posters - Age of Conan will almost certainly release on March 25. With the Collector's Edition details announced and the date a mere 2.5 months away, a delay is improbable.
I have not followed all of the development, but I believe AoC has delayed numerous times before and I know the development cycle has been rather long, even for an MMORPG. It eventually comes down to time and money, things that are very finite.
Besides, if AoC is pushed back another three months, and WAR does not delay again (Q2 2008 release date), it is setting itself up for a very direct competition. The target audience may be a bit different, but I think it is in Funcom's best interest to get their game out before then to hook the people that either will buy whatever new MMORPG comes along, or the people who are on the fence. If the game turns out well, many previously ambivalent people will stay with it and snub WAR in favour of the game they are already invested in.
Right now one of AoC's best marketing weapons is the fact that it is the first AAA fantasy MMORPG release in nearly a year, at a time where people are burning out on LotRO] and Burning Crusade, and to throw that away by delaying again would be a poor decision unless the game is truly not ready for the public.
The only 'inside' source the OP has is in his head...
It will release on March 25 but I suspect the 1st thing it will do when installed is download a huge patch containing all the fixes put into place since they stamped the CD's.

exactly and its not like they're taking any money in while they have all these costs
they HAVE to release it march or else boom
Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions.
this game is getting delayed again? i heard from an inside souce that it was.
fuckin lie
made that shit up urself u did
Uhum , ignore the potty mouthed troll but seriously info that comes with such things as "rumour" and "inside source" in the same sentence doesnt make me want to belief it .Frankly an "inside source" wouldnt be speading "rumours" and if they where well ever heard the saying people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones?
Not to Troll but there are a few credible rumors out there that it might get a small delay. Apparantly there are still a huge amount of Balance, Bugs, and content fixes that need to be adressed still.
Personally I have decided not to purchase until after the release if the game isn't another TR.

Wrong. What you're reading/hearing is people's opinions. Sure, they might be people from backgrounds that give credence to "credible" sounding information, but in reality these are people that may have just seen the game or played it a bit themselves and said, "I think it's going to get delayed again".
My advice to you, read the stuff written by reputable gaming journalists, and what Funcom have to say themselves. If they delay again, fine, that's their prerogative, not anyone else's.
And keep in mind we're still just over two months away from release, and in that time, a lot can happen as far as development goes. Although I think the devs are going to want to be working Saturdays and Sundays to get things just right. ;-)
After the game is gold and sent to the press it's not like they'll stop working either. My bet is that we got ourselves a nice download after installation on retail-day. All the journalists are saying the game is looking very good, but with many small annoying bugs, although nothing of a gamebreaking nature.
I must admit all the fearmongering actually got to me a few days ago. There was supposed leaks, rumours and hearsay that the game was being delayed, game only had 10 fps and so on. It's been so much in a short period of time that I'm tempted to think it's a campaign against Funcom. Now I'm convinced it's all a hoax and just general bullshit. I've read from neutral sources like mmorpg, tentonhammer, civillian people at CES and several other sites that the game is looking very good indeed. The Cheetah 2 engine has raised the fps considerably and the overal polishness is great. Only thing I've heard is that it's a LOT of small bugs that needs to ironed out before release.
I'm not worried at all anymore. If my toon will run through the occasional stone or other static objects it won't ruin the game for me. If a quest is broken I'll live that as well. Hell I've played many MMO's over the years and I've seen many broken quests. I can wait for these things to be fixed in the next patch.
if age of conan was already playing, and they were delaying an expansion.. then id be pissed, because id feel like they were milking me for my money (but they're not)

They released CE details, there's some big stuff going on in Oslo next week, CES info etc. It's not getting delayed.

I'd say you are just trying to get some gossip rolling. Nice try, the game is set for March 25th.
