Almost everything is instanced, no land content exploring, consentual PVP, almost no group based content unless you cant its lame ass PVP, only thing good about it is the customization and graphics. My god i dont want to play in my own virtual world i want to play in a MMORPG with other people, play with other people interact with others, quest and group with others. What the hell is wrong with todays mmorpgs. I blame EQ and PoP

if they gave their money to poor people instead of developing new mmos eventually all of the poor people would have their basic needs fulfilled and would be wanting entertainment in the form of mmos which would be lacking so youd have a vicious circle.

I'm sorry to say but I agree with Nomatica .
I had the highest hopes for this game...but I played the beta and am very disappointed for the same reasons Nomatica and more.
I will not subscribe to this game when it come out but maybe will in the future.
It's not the bugs (these can be corrected).
It's the way the game came out to be.
This is a good mmorpg but not that good.

Not said the best, but I agree with you.
If it's a new type/genre of mmo then people are suckered into it. I have a friend that has read tons of pirate books, and is very excited about this game. I've tried to talk sense into him, but the pirate theme is blinding him.
Pros:
Graphics aren't ugly - 1st pirate mmo to hit the market - Unique crafting
Cons:
Horrible melee - small instanced zones - terrible cities & npc's - SoE game - high monthly for lack of content - sound is lack luster - boring slow ship combat
If the game was given another year of good hands on development it could be amazing, but like most mmo's these days a partially finished product will be released and sold.
After this post, I am glad the kids will be avoiding this game. But if you kids didnt like PotBS, there is always Pirates of the Carribean.

I loathe forced grouping, it is the number 1 reason I refuse to even try many games. Give me agame I can play by myself, but with others and I will gladly give you my money. Now I will have to take a serious look at PotBS!

Put it this way, (this is my opinion)
This game is truly enjoyable as a guild / group game. If you just want to solo this game and power level your way to 50, your going to say Bleh! I rather play Sid Meiers Pirates instead and not pay the monthly fee.
All in all, its a very dynamic game and I assure you my guild and I are enjoying it as I write this post. We usually have 15 to 30 guildmates on TS everynight and building up our Econony on the Antigua Server.
Our guild members still play Eve Online as well as anything PvP Orientated (FPS etc). Are many going to keep playing after Launch day? We will soon find out. But we do have alot of members taking a liking to it.
On my personal note..
I dont know what its like to go into a game anymore without friends. I have 5 close online friends and we jump from game to game. Apparently we are parked at PotBS for now and part of a guild.
same..our guild has been jumping from mmo to mmo since SWG went the way of the NGE...but we all ended up in POTBS for the complex economy..and are having a ball. About 30 of us on the morgan server

This is a Pirate/Sailing MMO, if land is a problem go play WoW.

No, you are wrong again. If you did not notice it is only Consentual PvP right now because the game HAS NOT released. They don't want the new players entering a battle they have already lost.

One of the easiest ways to level is forming a hunting party with friends and chasing down bigger ships.
There are also a few missions that require groups.
Sounds to me like you need to make some in-game friends.

Its a RvR and a PvP game, not a sandbox game. As much fun as it would be to explore the jungles, walk around your ship, swim in the ocean with mermaids, and conquer mexico for yourself, that is not the focus/purpose of this game.
Thats funny because everyone except for 1 person that I know of in our guild of hundreds has come from other mmorpgs. I came to PotBS after playing WoW for 2 years. Many others came from EVE. So out right I can say that your assessment of what type of people will play this game is down right incorrect.
I really don't know why people have to be designated as trolls and fanbois when expressing their opinions...but hopefully when you guys get out of the 8th grade you can actually articulate ideas and have discussions.

The game is just not good at this point, IMO. Ship combat is good, is unique, and should have been the focus because of that. Instead, they've introduced a ridiculously bad avatar combat feature to appeal to the "masses" that does NOT deliver on any level. The lack of unique landscapes and maps...also hugely disappointing. The quest repetition factor is pretty strong, there's really nothing new other than how many ships are on the same map or how many avatars on the same map.
If they had built a game based on it's strengths, economy, ship combat, PVP, crafting...could be a great niche game. Instead, they've built a second rate game that I'll be amazed if people pay for in enough numbers to keep it alive.

With THAT one I do agree 100%... Just adding the unrealistic factor on a game that should be realistic... (thtas what I wished)
Don't worry about the OP Nomatica's opinion, a quick look at his post history will make it clear he spends a lot of time trolling games he dosen't play and never gives a valid reason for it.
