How to get this game to work.
Hello everyone. In another topic in this section, I noticed a lot of people, including myself, were having issues playing RF. Some people can't get the download, some people can't get an activation key, and some people have both, but have no idea what to do with them. I will explain all of that, right here, and if you do not understand something, I will post my email at the end of the post. Please read this in its entirety, before sending me an email, I don't mind answering questions, but if it's in here, and you ask me, chances are I won't be too thrilled about it. =P
For starters, go to the RF main site, there's a link to it right on mmorpg.com, but it's www.rf-onlinegame.com for the lazy. From there, check out the game, and make sure it's something you really want to play, as the game is quite large, and demanding on your computer. If you decide you do, go to the create a COG account tab on the left side of the screen, under service. Agree to the terms, enter your information, and set up your account, badda bing, badda boom, that's done. You will need to CONFIRM your email address, so use a valid one they can send something to, and check your spam if you don't see it. Now you need to download the client. This is where it can get dicey.
The download link listed on their site is for fileplanet. Fileplanet no longer offers a free download of this game, so if do not have a subscription to fileplanet, clicking download on the main site is not going to work for you. Instead, I suggest downloading it from gamershell.com. Easiest way to do this is to go to www.gamershell.com and use the search function located at the top left of the screen. Just type in RF online, and the first link you get in the downloads section will be the RF online free game client. Download that. It is the exact same client, confirmed by myself to run the game just fine. Now, while this is downloading, we'll need a code.
This was the hardest part for me, and a lot of others who are trying to play this game. The site promotes that the game is now free, and has links all over the site that say game is free, click here, yadda yadda. For some people, these links work just fine. They get the code, and they are done. For others, all these links do is send you back to the main RF site page. Click on a different link, it sends you to the main page. There are even links on the forum, as well as links here, that say they will take you directly to the key generator. These links do not work. You will either be sent to the main RF page, or will get a 404 error. If you are having this problem, Here is your solution. Follow this link. http://community.codemasters.com/fo...ad.php?t=250347
One of those solutions will get you a code.The very first one is the one that worked for me, but I will not assume it will work for everyone. However, everyone I've given this link to has found one of these solutions to work just fine. Once you have a code, go back to the main site, and click on the your account tab, also located under service. From there, enter your login details. Now, at the top of the screen, you should see a link that says click here to create new subscription. Do it. Select RF online from the scroll menu, enter your code where it tells you to (copy and paste works just fine)and enter the word they give you. The funny letters are indeed a word, and not too hard to see imo. Once that is done, your login details will work when you go to login to RF online. That's all she wrote, have fun, and play nice.
Notes: I did not write the post for the solutions to the key gen problems. I don't know who did.
