AOC the only unique mmorpg comming out, not saying its good.

This post is not saying AOC is good or bad because i dont know if it is yet but so far it has my money because its actually unique, i mean if a game can show boobs and actually chopping off peoples heads its actually not afraid to go to other dimensions as well. Every mmorpg today is such a lackluster and boring, LOTRO, D&D online, COH, WOW, EQ2 i mean i can go on and on all mmorpgs today are the same with a different coat of paint, boobs dont interest me in this game because i past that stage in my life when you see real life boobs cartoon boobs just dont excite me but its still a nice addition but what really excites me about this game is PVP and now that its open full PVP on some servers i cant wait till some one gets all up in my grill and talks smack then i just chop their head off.

AOC is the mortal kombat of mmorpgs. CANT WAIT

    Open ffa Pvp is not something new to mmorpgs UO had it. though the new twist on the classic combat system is something i'm looking forward to, i'd like to see how they've done it to be honest. Balancing lag with realtime combat is something that has to be extremely difficult, and i hope they pulled it off well.

    I think conans PVP system is something unique to MMOs though so far its the most intriguging and the most involved PVP. I wonder though if your a range class how kill shots will work like if your a ranger class with a bow and arrow can you shoot some one in the neck and arrow goes into their neck or into their eye killing them or if your a caster can you blow people up once you killed them?

    I would take DDO off your list of generic MMOs, and I think you forgot about TCoS as that's going to be much more original than AoC.  Not bashing AoC, I plan on playing it, but I think your opinions are uninformed when labeling some of these games.

    Agree with poster above. If you think DDO and WoW are alike, then you are in for a big surprise at AoC launch. And again, agrees with poster above - Spellborn is going to be much more unique then AoC.

    AoC has a problem.  It's trying to be revolutionary with its combat system, and if you scour the web you can find rumblings of lag issues that might cause real problems with their combat system, which is a shame I think it's a good idea on paper but in practice...

    I just think they are trying to do something unachievable.  And their PvP system is one reason I for one am NOT very interested in this game.  PVP that rewards greed is just asking to be an annoyance.  I'll wait and see how the game pans out before I drop any cash on it.  Besides, I loved AO, but I was one of those poor sods that had the game on Launch day and suffered 6 months of playing, Funcom has to prove to me they can launch an MMO first.   But that's just a personal opinion and I hope the game DOES succeed, I really do, competition in the MMO market makes it stronger and makes devs more likely to produce unique games instead of trying to copy WOW like LOTRO did in terms of easy traditional gameplay.

    Not to beat a dead horse, LOTRO didn't really copy WOW more then it did EQ2 or many other games out there. Its just something people say if they haven't REALLY played both (2 day trials do not count). Just like the other "proven" truths: 1. LOTRO copied WOW 2. DDO sucks 3. WAR is a WOW clone, blah blah.

    The truth is that LOTRO didn't dare too much, kept following the proven MMO formula. Turbine got burned with DDO trying to do something different. People complained that its not like the others and didn't play it.

    AOC's sucess is critical to the industry. If it fails it will only teach the industry to stick to the same winning formula without making too many changes. If it will be a big success, perhaps next gen game developers will be more daring.

    Sorry I have to dissagree with AOC being the only unique MMORPG that is comming out.  Personally I find it very similar to a few others.  it has a few unique features but that is about all, I would say the one that is breaking the mold or going to try and break the mold of MMORPG's is The Chronicals of Spellborn.  Other then that you have to look to much older games for a unique game that really pushes new directions.

    What I meant by copying WoW was in terms of easy to play game play, with high focus on just PvE.

    I'm a WAR fan, because I like DAoC's RVR, I.E. Meaningful, purpose driven PVP.

    I agree with a few people here that it is TCoS that is trying something different and unique and not AoC,Ok so there is no "boobs or lobbing of peoples head"but that I could do without it does have alot of REAL unique features or at least blending the best 1s into 1 game,I maybe could have took your post more serious if you had done a little more research into the MMO`s that are due for release in the next few months.

    If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

    I have to be honest, I don't think Age of Conan will be that unique at all. I am just interested in something new and fresh.

    With that said, I have every intention of playing it, but let's be honest. The classes are the same, re-hashed stuff we've seen for years with different lore titles.

    "Druid of Storms" = Shaman

    "Guardian" = Paladin

    "Barbarian" = Berserker

    ... and so on and so forth.

    However, I AM excited for the siege warfare, which just seems delightful.

    Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...

    Guardian=Paladin? :S

    How come? Maybe more like Guardian= the most classic approach of a warrior tank.

    If you could say any of those classes represent a Paladin, that would be a Conqueror cause his auras. Although even that comparison is wrong, Conq can't heal and he would not be as tank efficient as a Guardian or a DT.
