Hi there,

I am playing wow for a while now. Its time to move on.

  Things I really enjoy:

  • Endgame (raiding especially)
  • Crafting
  • Social Interactions
  • Instance Runs, by that I mean.. have a bunch of classes together that depend of each other to archive a mutual goal.
  • LOOT Must be well though ;)

Any suggestion? I started a trial account on LOTRO, but I just found out they don't have much raiding or endgame for that matter going on.

Thank you

Regards ;)

Your best bet for rich content and crafting is obiviously EverQuest 2.  This game entered the market just before World of Warcraft and has stood the test of time in my opinion.  Nice gaming as well.  Seems to carry a more mature crowd in general than does WoW.  I play Butcherblock good and would be honored to show you around and even get you into a wonderful guild, (From the Ashes-level 52).  My in-game character's name is Silamey.  Hope to hear from you soon!

May your inventory carry the blessings of bounty!

I concur, EQ 2 would be your best bet at this point, at least until AOC comes out in March. (and its still an unknown as to how it will all pan out)

If you are sure you don't want a break from MMORPG's to recharge your batteries until WoTLK comes out, I recommend EQ2. In fact, EQ2 is your only option if you want end-game raiding. Any other option is older than EQ2 and not as fresh. Thing about EQ2 is that it is overwhelming. There are so many quests to do, even at lvl 1, that you will out level most quests without getting xp from them. This can be confusing as to which quests are worth doing more and etc. Otherwise, the game isn't bad. I personally think it lacks the soal that WoW has and the character models and combat is rather bland. I predict that you will try it, see things that it doesn't have that WoW has, and end up returning to play WoTLK.

    Good Luck!

MMORPG's w/ Max level characters: DAoC, SWG, & WoW

    Currently Playing: WAR
Preferred Playstyle: Roleplay/adventurous, in a sandbox game.

The thing about wow for me is that I played through the old content, through almost everything BC had to offer... and now the only "challenge" for me was to start again on the horde side of things (I have 4 max'ed out alliance chars). But while leveling til 10 or so... I felt so freaking empty. As if  I was doing it for obligation and addiction more than for fun.

Maybe I will just do as someone said and relax a bit. Anyway, I am downloading the EQ2 trial just to pick what it has to offer.

If I may make a final question... what about SWG? Is it still alive? Is it any fun? Does it fail on the list I put up together?

Thank you everyone for the kind replies.

I cannot recommend SWG in any fashion.  The trouble with that game is that the niche element it had going for it has long been removed.

Essentially, they saw that games like WoW were doing superb and decided to destroy everything that made the game appealing and different to mimic what WoW had to offer.  The problem there is that WoW has far more content and better UI to complement that model.  You will find that game severely lacking.

EQ2 is going to be the best choice for you I think.  You may consider giving Vanguard a go, but I can assure you that EQ2 will have more content if you are a hardcore gamer.  Lineage 2 is a valid choice I think, but you may find the controls a little different that what you are used to and the grind is borderline legendary.  Try both of those games, and if they don't pan out just wait for WAR.  Don't get overly excited about AoC because the appeal of that game has been centered around the war and PvP strength its going to have, and you have stated that Raiding is one of the biggest things you enjoy.  That isn't to say they won't have such things....but I don't see them making that the biggest focus of the game at all.

That is besides my natural worry over the lack of an open beta AND the lengthy NDA they have up.  They are hiding too much information and I worry that they are not going to test it well enough.

You should also keep an eye on Aion.  That game may very well pan out to be the next big thing, and I feel that way because they aren't being overly promising about what they can accomplish.  In fact, they've so far been allowing the model and ideal of the game speak for itself.

    Best of luck

As someone who was once a hardcore SWG player and who is also a hardcore WoW player, I can't recommend SWG as it currently stands. Yes, the game has added more difficult group encounters in a recent patch, but it will never be what it was pre-NGE nor is it remotely as good as WoW. It feels like a cheap imitation. It's unfortunate since SWG was truly one of the most innovative and engrossing MMORPGs ever made, as riddled with bugs as it was.

Like you, I was really frustrated with WoW about two months ago and canceled my subscription to go check out some other MMORPGs--including some of the subscription-free games--and ultimately ended up resubscribing to WoW before it was over with.

Regarding EQ2, it's a great game to be sure, but as someone who has played it off and on since launch, I have never found it as appealing as WoW. The community, as someone else stated, is a hundred times better than WoW's general community. Also, despite the fact that, in my opinion, EQ2 offers a richer PvE experience than WoW, overall it doesn't have as much to offer as WoW does. In my case, I enjoy a combination of PvE and PvP, so that's probably why I don't enjoy EQ2 as much. EQ2's PvP servers are pathetic. Nevertheless, EQ2 provides a great raiding experience, and I know some WoW veterans who have converted to EQ2 solely based on the raiding quality of the game.

But hey, give EQ2 a shot; after all, it costs nothing to try it except a little time.
