How Big Of A Letdown Will WAR Be? (Daikatana Proportions I Predict)

Well i see this either going as daikatana and being all hype and on release is a major letdown or like dukenukem forever, very cool but never released.

Since I know they wont let this wait until everything is ready due to money issues I will assume it will be a major letdown (judging by Dark age of camelot)

 

Of course i could be wrong and its the best MMO ever, but i doubt it.

Daikatana-esque? I can tell you without prediction you are the worst predicter of all of predictality(!?).

Seriously do you think GW would give it's IP to someone without having some confidence in them due to their previous experience (i.e. DAOC)? DAOC by your own perception may be a major letdown. Objectively however, DAOC was far from a catastrophe. DAOC had a substantial profit to cost ratio, was one of the most successful mmorpgs in EU, and is highly ranked on metacritic. I think it's evident now too that they genuinely listen to their supporters and community with the recent inclusion of Keeps in Warhammer. These elements pretty much solidifies my faith in this game NOT falling anywhere near a failure such as Daikatana.

You need to define what you think "best" is. Your idea of "best" is not going to be the same as everyone else. If you mean "best" = "succesful", then I think you are so dead wrong.

Realisticly my vote was for it almost will live up to its hype. I think that will be the generalized opinion, if it's not it will be "it lived up to its hype."   If I were to choose based on my own bias and devotion to the game, it's better than beer.

This is one of the first times I have ever heard someone suggest WAR may be vapourware. Not even the WoW fanboys go that far. This is not a scrub company we are talking about, nor one that is silent. They have a lot of resources, are actively developing the game, and show us this every month, at least.

The game is certainly coming out, and there is a 99.99% chance it will be in 2008, if not in Q2 2008 like it is currently scheduled. I give that about a 75% chance, as a small delay would not shock me.

As for living up to hype, few things ever do. WAR is not going to be the second coming of Christ, that is for sure, but I think it will please people with realistic expectations.

I have not played it myself, but based on the plethora of information and videos available, the game is not looking like a failure at all, but rather a success. We will know for sure soon enough.

Go back to your AoC boards troll.   It really sickens me. I was going to be trying both games but the more and more I see the AoC community the less and less I think about trying it. Maybe the OP isnt an AoC supporter but here and every other board I go to I see AoC trashing WAR. While I see it the other way around here its not nearly as much. Most WAR fans seem to think they may try AoC along with WAR but with the community over there, I doubt I am even going to waste my money on the game.

1) The OP has no idea what the game is going to be like, but then again very few do. He loses credibility in my book for insinuating that DAoC was a let-down... which it was not. DAoC had its prime - and in that prime it was *king*.

What I suggest you do is ask the mods to lock up or delete this post then start another one with some questions in the form of "do you think this game is hype. like Vanguard" or "Will War turn out like DAoC?", something to those effects.

What you actually posted was pure rubbish and pretty much asking for trouble.

First of all you would need to be in the closed beta test to even be able to judge anything , and from your thread and your poll , i think you have no idea what your talking about and just trolling it.

You lose all credibility when say DAoC was a major letdown.  LOL!

DAoC was a great game (although aged now), great fun to play and people loved it.

Will almost live up to the hype I believe. Currently many people see this as some kind of God of all MMORPGs and I honestly don't believe that WAR will be that good. However I believe they will have a chance to almost live up the (extreme) hype.

I think it will be release, and will be as much like warhammer as WoW was to warcraft. In other words, it will probably be a good game, but nothing like it's roots. WoW was an individual's game, I don't remember that about warcraft. We'll see. I imagine they have the budget to make an interesting world. I doubt this is an MMO changing experience, like we once saw in SWG, Ryzom, etc. Nothing ground breaking, but it will probably be fun as long as you walk in with the attitude that this isn't revolutionary. Fun will probably be the mainstay of this title. I mean, WoW was even fun for a second, even for most people that bash it today. In fact, most of the people I see bashing wow today were not the ones who played for a few months and became tired, they mostly say, "hey, good game and universe, just not for me." Most of the dedicated wow players I see bashing the game are the ones who got caught up in the pvp/raid/? grind and woke up to see themselves in the mirror. WoW is still a very well manufactured game. It is a very korean game to some extent (I played Lineage 2 to 60 almost three years ago, wow was more entertaining, but they had QUITE a bit in common, especially gear-wise, and even more so by never allowing you to claim a home).

I think the missing link in MMO space is the one created by lorto (not a fanboi, I don't even play it, I am a sci-fi baby, so go ahead an react). LoRTO has a great backstory, a very dedicated following, a stable client, great (stable) gameplay, balance, and the opportunity to add content for several years. They have community and player housing, which in my view is very essential to building a community, and seriously, give them a home where they can invite friends and show off rewards and spoils. I know a number of anti-soe vets who sub'd for a month only so they would not see their beloved online homes destroyed. Lorto has this aspect in spades, where it missed the boat, is singularly in conflict. Had they worked that point out, it would have been the perfect game for many.

Honestly, this thread is the worst posting I've ever seen.  I understand that you think WAR will be a let down, but your comparisons are just horrible.  For one it WILL release you idiot.  It's very close now to release. Two, your poll just doesn't make any sense.  Will WAR be as big of a let down as other successfully released MMOs lol WTF?!  Anyway, don't waste our time or forum space please.  Just read the forums and refrain from posting.
