I had a difficult time trying to word this title appropriately and I doubt I did it well.
My predicament is this: I want to play an Ork and my wife wants to play a Dark Elf. Will it take a high level portal or days of walking through high level zones to get to my wife, whom by that time is already 10 levels ahead of me? I can't very well have the mistress do all the work (or any of it for that matter) by herself.
I apologize if this information is easily found via a slight search, but I'm on an internet connection that makes dial-up seem quick.

As long as both are the same faction you won't have a problem at all.
It will take you a very short amount of time (a couple hours) to travel to another races zone in your realm. You just have to get to the first town that has a warcamp.
It's in one of the grab bags on their main page I believe.
I'll see if I can dig it up.
I think they said on a podcast that it would take about 10 hours of playing to get to a warcamp.
They also said you could run strait to the other starting area if you new how to get their but it would take awhile.
It can't be any worse then WoW or DAoC lol.
Playing: Everthing
Played: DAoC,AC2,EvE,SWG,WAR,MXO,CoX,EQ2,L2,LOTRO,SB,UO,WoW.
I have played every MMO that has ever come out.
Like others have said, mingling with races of your own realm will be easy and is expected. You can do it right from the beginning, but the progression of the game does not intend for it in the initial levels. The quest chains and such will lead you to other lands eventually, but not right away.
Of course, you do not have to follow the quest chains. I would expect travelling to other lands as a fresh newbie to be difficult, however. Consider what a Night Elf has to do in WoW to get to Ironforge or Stormwind. It may be easier or more difficult, but I would imagine it would be along those lines - perilous as a newbie, but doable.
Its a non issue, you should not have a problem intermingling with the other races
WarCry: With each race having its own starting lands, how easy will it be for me, as an Orc to team up with my friend who is playing Chaos?
Richard Duffek: Technically one of you could go to the other's starting land almost immediately. If you know your way around the game, you can run through the starter areas to the first warcamp and travel from there to your capital city. From your capital city, you can travel to your friend's warcamp and run down to his starting area. For the more patient types, by playing through the starter areas naturally, you should get there within about ten hours of gameplay.
10 hours if you play through the starter zones, so my guess is a few hours if you run straight through.
Thanks everyone for the input. It would have taken me a really long time to dig that info up, even if I knew where it was. Sharing a single satellite internet connection with 100+ people for 2 months isn't exactly fun (or by choice).
It seems I would have to make an epic newbie trek to start out with my wife from the beginning. I might try to do it if I manage to get in-game a few hours before her, otherwise her happy arse can wait for my big, ugly green one to get to that warcamp also.
