in World of Warcraft

Did anyone else notice that on July 30th a whole shit load of new posters appeared in the WoW section? I used to check the forums nightly, and there'd be like 3-5 threads that were bumped. Now 10+ threads are getting bumped ever couple of hours. Way more than I care to keep up with or read, since 98% of them are all the same stuff that's been posted already, and the rest are just rants about WoW being great and EQ2 being the SuX.

 

So I'm asking, anyone else notice this, and does it slightly bother anyone?

    Just the same idiot bunch that completly ruined the original WoW community, which was a solid group of people, and turned the game community and the future for that game into a 11 year old flame fest bonanza. Most more mautre people want nothing to do with that game, only based on the community and how that will be reflected ingame at launch.

    Now... they just want to infect the rest of the mmo community. Their trash talk is so common now within WoW as to be the rule, and no one gets upset anymore.. hence.. they move outwards.

    I agree, maybe they think that doing post/polls will win more stars and will have more chance to get the mmorpg.com beta giveaway.

    I'm new here so I have been going through all the threads to see what I have to catch up with. And I would agree with you on a certain level, the posts are repeatative and some seem one sided, but don't posts usually increase as a game gets closer to launch. I hardly think generalizing a group of people as 11 year olds explains the increase in posts completly. Though I can understand what you are saying, I think any infantile behavior will be weeded out over time as the game matures a little. Just my two bits. ::::19::

    Serious. Ive noticed this too. I mean here I am, having been posted on this forum since 3 days ago, and these NOOBS think they can come in and sign up 1 day ago and take over our forum? This is OUR house Dracius. You let those punks know who is in charge of this forum.  We dont want more than 4 new posts a day, cause any more would get boring! New posts are too exciting for us old folk over here, and sometimes we wet ourselves. So keep it down you NOOBS!

    And then, where do they get off saying WoW is good?? I mean, this is the World of Warcraft forum! Not the WoW forum!!! Those PUNKS! And they need to take their EQ2 bashing to the EQ2 fourms, so everyone is informed about how much that game sucks!! NOOBS can be so inconsiderate!

    That deluge of new posters you notice was most likely due to the WoW beta contest that MMORPG.COM is hosting right now.  I should know, thats why I joined, but by no means am I trying to take over your forums or anything like that.  I am one newb that you vets wont have to worry about with spaming and the like.

    I have to agree I joined when I heard of the beta give-away ::::01:: well anyways (crossing fingers hopes to win) good luck all ::::28::.

    I didn't actually join because of the contest but I did join in the last 3 days when I learnt about this site. I did notice quite a few Noobish topics and attempted to respond to them in a very equalized form never one siding toward WoW. The hostile take over however is probably because of the contest but I feel that some people should learn to control themselves.

    P.S you realize that 95% that no one who posted on this topic will win a beta account right?

    LOL - did you mean 99.99%???

    We currently have 6700 people in the contest with 7 days to go.  This is why we are currently begging Blizzard to give us more accounts.  They gave GuComics 2 more accounts because they had 1500 people in their contest - we had 1500 people in the first hour it was open!!!

    So, assuming we will have 10,000 people enter the contest your odds are about 1:3333 - and this will improve of course if you login more often...but much worse odds than most of our contests I am sad to say image

    Don't get me wrong, I was just merely making an observation that there was suddenly a large increase in the number of posters and posts, and I mean LARGE. It's not my place to say who can stay, or who should leave, but so far those of you who have replied to this thread have been WAY more mature than most of the other posters I'm used to seeing post. So clearly yer not all bad.

    As for the contest, I've got 2 chances I'm trying. The one on this site, and one that Penny Arcade had, they recieved 3,000 entries, so it'll be a while before they pick the winners.

    I'll admit I've visited this site many times before but didn't bother to register at all until this WoW Beta contest. So far, I like the site and I'll probably plan on sticking with it.

    I'm also new here due to the beta contest. I can promise you though that flaming and spamming are not things that I either do or appreciate. I also prefer to read posts written in standard english rather than 'internetonics'. (i.e. "u r" instead of "you are")

    Anyway, I am incredibly excited about World of Warcraft. I have been playing text based MUD's for the past 6 years and have only now found a game that has a world and a design enticing enough to make me pay to play.

    In my opinion, MUD's take a higher degree of imagination to enjoy playing. Seeing my character will be an odd sort of change - but one that I am sure I will enjoy.

    I look forward to discussing this game here, even if I don't win a beta slot. I hope my input is interesting and useful. Thanks.
