I can't speak for other, but me, I wouldn't play Vanguard regardless.
Core Design Issues. I want a game centered, totally, around grouping...if in order to become a grouper I need to do anything else at any point in the developpment of my character, the game is just not for me. Options, alternatives, they are all cool...extra gameplays, sweet. But if I have to do them, at any moment, then I won't even bother with the game that can't focus on what I like.
If I want to play a GBT, I don't go try Warcraft II and then complains it isn't GBT. Vanguard is in this unique situation where it try to promotes 4-6 distincts gameplays, while in reality, you have to play them all 4-6...so if there is any which you can't stand, then the game won't be appealing at all.
Nuff said. A well done hybrid may appeal to both half...a ill-made hybrid will appeal to neither unless you actually enjoy both.
