What am I doing wrong with this (expletive) stalker??

LithomanLithoman Member Posts: 16

Hey y'all,

I am trying to play a stalker (lvl 9 so far), but am failing miserably. My stalker tends to die quite frequently and If I survive the fight it's not by much... Then there's the down time while I recharge...

I miss often with my first strike (from stealth) and it seems that dooms me from the start.

I have played every other AT and have no trouble with them. Mebbe I just suck at playing a stalker, but I'm willing to learn... I have really no idea what type of stalker would be good (or at least surviveable)

Any stalker tips would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Some basic tips is to have 3 acc enhancies in each att skill. That should help with your acc problem. As for the dying, I don't really know how you're playing it, but if you're scrapping with the stalker, you're playing it wrong. The only stalker that's even able to scrap a little is /regen and that's only after level 20-22+, otherwise, you should go in for the initial strike, then SS/SJ away to lose agro. Stalkers in general are hit and run.

I have been trying to scrap... So do you attack, run away, then come back and finish off the mob??

Or are you saying don't roll a stalker if you plan on soloing??

ok firstly your stalker type, i find anything with energy melee works very effectivly and ive seen a lot of people go for dark melee/ ninja dunno why my lvl 36 stalker is energy melee/energy aura which scraps very effectivly with the heal auxilary pool

Secondly, you want to hit and run in the early lvls so take super speed as your travel power this is also good in another way all your attacks recharge a heck of a lot faster if you have hasten, i just keep hasten as my auto.

thirdly, dont try to scrap in the early lvls you'll die pretty quick, stalkers have the damage output of a blaster but have the health of a troller wait until you get some dual origin enhancements before you try scraping

try doing paper mish's that have the titles like "kill archon fulker and guards" or find the missing artifact" that way you can stealth clean past mobs with super speed and find the said target in the mission title, this is what stalkers are built for in pve play....stealth...recon....quick kill/find glowy ....mission ends.

If you have other characters, you could make sure your weakest toon is fully decked with IOs he can equip (level 10 IO here).

I never play a stalker myself, as they are less damage then a brute if you exclude the first attack and they tank less then a brute.  For my playstyle, a brute is definitely a better deal.

Stalkers are prolly the less solo friendly characters in CoV and the less group-wanted characters as well.  Make sure you like it before you play it, cause I see very little reasons to play 1 myself, but that is me.

Hello, I have a level 47 stalker and a level 35 brute, It really depends what suits you for your class, I only chose stalker because im a assassin fanatic, But stalker is more of a PVP class than a mob class, Brute is a good tanker for city of villains too, At the start, Stalker is hard to level up, Just find friends and party with them to get level ups, But as you get higher and better skills, You will be able to take them out in no time, Good luck!

First off if you're only level 9 you aren't supposed to be kicking that much booty ... yet.

I have a 36 eng/reflex stalker myself.  At that level I have so many defenses (auto and toggles) that I hardly ever get hit.  That helps your "scrappering" so to speak.  Early on you won't have as many defenses available to you, which is why you're getting hit (and dying) more often.

All your attack powers should, at least, have 2 accuracy enhancements in them.  If you get some IO's that will help noticeably or if all else fails at 12 you can start using 15 DO's.  I have assassin strike 6 slotted with 3 acc and 3 dam.  The acc bonus of build up also helps too but understand that there is an accuracy cap, you can never have a 100% hit chance.
