Over the past month I have been working on an idea for an MMORPG Singles website where single players can email, chat, and possibly send custom ingame messages, and other cutesy stuff like that. I have been able to find a MySpace group for MMORPG Singles and another site OkCupid.com where you can search for single MMO players.
My question is this, is there a market for this, and if more services are offered is it worth paying for?
Thanks

thats called a Daring site.
Really not sure if there would be a market for this.... I am pretty sure not too many people on these boards would admit they are interested though
Okay, gotta ask - isn't this going to be a little gender skewed? I mean I'll admit that there's a lot of women playing MMOs - but a lot of them come from nontraditional gaming groups - mothers, married women, women who got into it because of their significant others, etc.
There has never been a real drive to market it to women, and as a result, there is no large chunk of women gamers with similar demographics, unlike male gamers.

I guess it all depends on how you look at it. You could look at it as, those women that are single will have the pick of the litter, or those women would be subject to hundreds of messages from random guys. Could do it like the clubs do it (at least where I am) women get in free and men pay to get in, to help even out the numbers. Also it could turn into just a gamers singles website, since console games are still hot.
Won't work because 70% of the females who register will turn out to be males in RL...

Life is too short to play bad games.
Lots of on-line dating services have chat rooms. And, really, how would this be any different than that? In fact, IMO this would be worse than a site like AFF which has lots of different types of searches you can run *and* chatrooms that are structured by geography or by other criteria.
I just don't see how this would be successful. Remember that, unlike in a normal MMO, the player's actual location is important.
Every woman would have her pick of 100+ guys.... and of course, meeting guys is probably not an issue for gaming women!
Instead of romance why don't you make it a looking for group personals? ;p

I found that by researching (finding dirt on) a game developer on this site who thinks he knows everything and is some kind of game developing genius, low and behold he was a member of that site.

I don't think that there is a market this and the amount of partnerships forming through online games is vary small. If you are intent on finding someone you'll apply to the huge amount of websites there that do the dating thing (Or adult in some cases.).
Meeting someone through gaming is usually coincidental and this still has to blossom face to face in the Real world if photos haven't been swapped and so on.
Gamers will go on your MMORPG for the game in the first instance, not for the dating.
My advice is therefore don't do it!
It's a good idea IMO. You could include also people looking just for playing mates in their time zone.
I'd set it free, with some options reserverd for paying costumers, like most dating websites.. uhm.. hey that's what a friend told me!
