Apart from the thing he's floating on just looks sooo bland and generic and the animations are piss poor.
QFT!
I really cant w8 for this game but for each vid they release i get more and more scared. The animations are a joke! This game is coming out 3 years after wow and thats the animations that is included?? We are hyping this game like more than ever and if that is the fast action PvP we get with those animations than i think lots of ppl will be dissapointed.
Lot of ppl, including me, says "its only beta", but Q2 is coming up fast and we are yet too se something that will convince us about the animations and fast action,.
Yes, I agree but I am pretty sure I have seen dev comments that final sound effects and combat animations will be added during this last phase of beta -- video from which we have not yet seen. We are still looking at video from the former beta phase -- which is no longer representative of the current state of the game.
Also note that not long ago the comments were that everybody in one class looked the same -- and that was very true.
Then, Paul Barnett said in his blog that Character Customization was just being put into the game. And, I can totally believe this based on my experience with LOTRO which I played for eight months in Alpha and Beta phases.
In the LOTRO beta, it was not until the very last phase of beta that the placeholder sound effects were removed and the final combat animations were added. As a matter of fact, there were a lot of placeholder items in the game that did not get their final release form until the final beta phase.
So, you will probably not take my word for it, but I fully expect that many of the current animation, spell effects, sound effects, etc., are actually placeholders awaiting the time when the final effects will be added.
Note: this was actually a criticism during the WoW (sorry) beta. People were heavily criticizing the animations, the spell effects, the casting animations, etc. We were told that they were placeholders and would be updated "soon." Which they were.
This is the problem when you put out beta information and video. People scrutinize an "unfinished" game and remark, "Hey, this is unfinished!"
Duh? Correct -- it is unfinished ... at the moment.
I totally give Mythic the benefit of the doubt, based on my experience with Dark Age of Camelot, that they WILL release a polished, completed game with all the frills that we have come to expect.
Some will agree with me on this. Others ... will not.

Excuse me? When did you start playing Daoc? They had a stable release but definately *not* a complete one. Whole dungeons weren't itemized for example.

It only looks so "cartoony" because at this point the lighting system wasn't in the game yet. The newer videos and screenshots look fantastic. You should check out some of the more recent stuff that shows off the lighting mechanics, its amazing how different it looks.
