It also shows that while that particular spell is powerful against large groups. It does far less damage if you spread out the front line or have far less opponents to cast on.
I did laugh watching that.. good stuff.
One thing that has me worried is 24 classes will not ever be balanced well at all.
True, but for me the RvR balancing is more important than the 1 on 1 class balancing. I think I'm just gonna accept that certain classes will most prolly be gimp towards other certain classes, 1 on 1. But since (I think) the whole RvR premise is teams of players working together, the 1 on 1 balance wont bother me as much. Sum of the parts and all that.
Now, if say the entire High Elf race was gimp to the entire Dark Elf race, that'd be a problem
I don''t really know when Humankind will die out but i''m guessing about 6 years before WOW.

Yes, we have seen this vid before and it goes to show how you use terrain to your advantage and the power of the casters.
There was a thread here before asking about who was going to be the most dangerous melee fighter.
I "pshawed" that and said that no melee fighter will be dangerous ... when compared to letting the casters have free rein to nuke you from a distance.
I think you can see in this vid just why that is true.
Help, I'm on fire!

Actually there were TWO of them, and if the other side lets two spell casters be unchecked they deserve to fry. Warhammer has always been about tactics and it would be awesome if WAR carried on that tradition.
Thats pretty awesome... Let it rain FIRE!
umm didnot amuse me, my hope is in Age of Conan!
Letting the caster/nukers get "position" on you is bad ... waaaay bad.
Those two guys caused chaos in the whole area, so it goes to show you that tactics and strategy will be very damn important.
The Mythic devs said they were designing the terrain so that it could be used for offense and defense.
Heh, I can see that is exactly right.

Ugh yes let your stealth everywhere non tactic stuff be fun for you thank god WAR is coming out tactics, terrain etc purely awesome.
In the current state of the game the classes are hardly balanced. You can rest assured that this won't be possible at launch.
You are certainly free to like whichever game you prefer, but it does make me wonder, WhyTF are you posting here about AoC and not over on the AoC boards.
Troll much?

Then go to the AoC forums. Your pointless drivel and lack of insight would be much more welcome there.
Rock/Paper/Scissors my friend i think it s the only system to usein an rvr centric game, sure he s nuking the hell out of things but what till a DPS melee type gets close i m sure that will balance it fairly. Remember CC is small durations in this game so if a melee is getting nuked to death unlike other games he can respond and retaliate which is great. Nothing worse then being a melee and getting nuked to 1/4 health before you even know where it s coming from.
This game is RvR, not PvP. It is meant for realms to be balanced against realms. Not players to be balanced against players. How more obvious does it have to be? I don't care how many times you have to read it to understand, just do it. Y class will be complaining that X class is overpowered, while X class will be complaining that Z class is overpowered. That is how it is supposed to work. Get it through your head.
I just hope that a video is released that shows the powers of tanks and such in a way like this one did for casters.
I have almost never seen a game that let tanks have the same potential as casters and the like. Even with collision detection I am unsure if WAR will, simply because of stuff like this. Casters can use terrain and positioning much more effectively than anyone else can, and usually do not suffer much for it. It is not like they will die in two hits to balance out that if they stand on a cliff they are like gods.
But, this was a cool video, and I am glad terrain and such will matter. I just hope that every archetype will get to taker advantage of such things and everything will have an effective, viable counter.
I agree but i will say that heavy armour a bucket full of hit points makes a good counter if your group knows what it s doing. The biggest thing i ve seen in any game with RVR is when a tank is stunned, nuked, nuked, mezzed, nuked, stunned etc etc that is where the counter is completely taken away. If a tank type can find and get to the dps caster it won t matter. If you re just standing there getting blasted and can t respond i would agree with you. I can atest to this because i always play tanks and i know how frusterating it can be but if i m free to engage i won t be
That was an entertaining video. I saw the person get 536 XP, what the heck did he kill? Did another player give him that xp? Interesting...

He killed one of the targets below, yes. RvR kills grant experience, just like a monster. In fact, I am willing to bet they grant a good deal more due ot the difficulty and risk of RvR compared to PvE.
Technically, it is possible to level from 1 to 40 in RvR and RvR alone. It would not be efficient, and you would miss a large chunk of the rest of the game, but it is possible.
pretty old .....but cool....considering i wanna be a fire wizard
I think that balance for a game like this is a myth. Once you add aoe, the limits on it to make it balanced would not be loved by players who just "want to have fun" or by those who would think it would break their immersion.
Getting plowed by a few casters is nothing new.
Hell, in DAoC if you were ramming a keep door and a few eldritches/wizards/runemasters looked out of the keep windows and went AOE x 10 and you couldn't interrupt them quick enough, you were all dead.
Same thing with multiple aoe DoT casters.
Tactics are always fun and add an entirely new level to the game.
Agreed. Perhaps when we start seeing videos of Sieges we may see more videos highlighting Tanks.
But when it comes down to it, taking hits is just never as interesting to watch as dealing the hits. (Unless it's a 'Most Painful Skateboader Stunts Video' )
Why does the title say this is new because i saw this video many many many months ago.
I can see it now , you log into the server & confronted with 6000 casters & not a melee to be seen ..
