Likely not, but this is common for mmo's. I think they chose a smarter path with not giving a rigid release date, so when the game gets pushed back nothing will feel "betrayed", silly enough as it is.

Oh, how the dev's working on AoC must be banging their heads against the wall thinking they were doing the community a favor but giving them a nice date to look forward to. In the future I suggest no giving a release date until about a week or so before it actually will be in stores, you know when you are in the phase of production and shipping.

A lot less stupid on the board that way, maybe. People seem to not realize that AoC and WAR have probably already been pushed back several times aside from the public announcements, internally.

Yeah im definitely not wasting my money on AoC. I can easily wait a few weeks for a better quality game.

But no matter what, I will have fun.
This is exactly why I feel the pushback of the AoC release date had much more to do with marketing than anything else.

I was planning on doing the same thing; try out AoC for a couple months, then switch over to WAR when it was released.  The AoC camp probably felt this too and are now trying to release AoC as close as possible to the WAR release (just like EQ2 and WoW did upon their releases).

I really do want to try both.  I want to make up my own mind on which I prefer to play for the long term (hopefully).  However, if the planets align, and they do happen to be released on or about the same day, from the scattered information I have about both so far, I would have to say I would be buying WAR first.

I'm sure I would be trying AoC eventually, but I wouldn't be buying and trying out two new MMOs at the same time.

Ive been saying it for a long time.....

Major Titles are never released mid spring. They are released 1 of 2 times. The 1st time games tend to come out is leading up to Xmas. The 2nd time major releases come out is at the end of spring just as school is getting out.

Still think the nudity thing isnt designed to pull kids into the game? If not, try explaining why a game that isnt supposed to have kids in it is being released just as school is out for the summer.

Many online retailers and also PC Gamer Magazine have WAR set for Q4 release.

I know my son is upset about this. Im happy still to play either game and will be buying both but I need something soon to ease the pain.

Some people here know I am a large supporter of WAR. But I to am sick and tired of the bashings of both games. It seems to me not to long ago WAR pushed its date back as well. Granted it didnt have a solid release date, but it still had a pushback.

I will be trying both games. I am betting WAR will get more of my money though. Who knows I could be wrong. After trying both I may just decide I like AoC better. Not likely I think, but its possible. If it comes down to both games releaseing within a month of eachother I will wait to try AoC. I cant afford to drop alot of money so close togeather. Well I can, but I have other things I like to spend my money on to :)

Sure when your looking forward to a game, a release date pushback sucks bigtime. But in the end, I would rather see it pushed back than buy a buggy POS like I did with Vanguard. Maybe VG is better now I dont know. But I do know that if I buy something and its unplayable I am not likely to give them more money later on. This applies to both AoC and WAR. If I buy it and its unplayable due to bugs you wont see my money any more.

In the end I would rather have dull gameplay than buggy gameplay. Maybe its just me, but Funcom and Mythic please, take your time and deliver me a game worthy of my money.

While I support delays to improve a broken game, I do not support lying. And Funcom has been continually lying. And its a little disheartening to see people actually support that in the industry. Because that just means it will become even more common and accepted.

People are way too focused on the game and not enough on the company that is releasing it. How many times have they said there were no problems with the game, everything was on schedule, they were just polishing, and that the only issues were that people felt that the combat system was 'too hard to understand'? The second to last delay said their game was complete and working great, they just needed to revamp the combat because it was too complex for new players. Now the truth is coming out and there are a whole mess of core system problems, confirmed by the beta testers and by another delay, and that doesn't bother anyone that Funcom lied about the state of the game all this time?

If they had just said months ago they were having all these issues, and given the TRUE reason for the delay, than I would say great - accept funcom and the delay with open arms because it was for the best and they were being honest. But to say "hey, you've just been making up bull for the past few months to keep your stock price up, heres 50 bucks mates"... that just sad and not at all how this industry should work.

Yes, this is another small reason why I will take WAR over AoC if I had to choose.  I suppose I feel the opposite of what the majority feels.  I don't feel "happy" that they are pushing back the release date (again) in order to make a more "polished" game.  I feel that my trust in a company has been betrayed because they obviously don't have their act together and have basically lied to the public about the current state of their game.

WAR has done this too by pushing back which quarter it is going to be released in, but at least they don't give a golden date and say "this is the date it will be released" then when it approaches says" Oh, by the by, we fooled you".

Yes this practice is becoming more common, and no I don't accept it anymore.

I think you'll find every game has developers that "lie". Some are just better at covering it up.
