It's the moment of truth people, PotBS release, nows your chance to put your thoughts of how the game might be and see how they actually are! I'm expecting a lot of posts about how the game is within the next week!

Played open beta & quickly became a real fanboi mainly because of the great dev participation.
After a couple of weeks found the gameplay to be very repetative & unless the economy is your thing it is hard to retain longterm interest.
Its having a deserved post launch honeymoon - the real test will be renewals in 30 days.
I didnt play any beta, but after playign the release for about 4 hours, so far like the game a lot. I feel this has the potential to be the next Eve if they can fix some of the bugs and annoying early problems.
Keeping my fingers crossed!

THe pvp on my server is so intense the spainish have the upper hand, with the french annoying us with attacks on spainish town. The pvp in this game is such a good experience you really get a rush when your trying to protect your private economy, even just moving around in the open sea is exciting when you have to move through red cricles.
The economy on this game is the best i had, but i have only played a few mmos its the economy i wished the others had. The ships are my favourite part they are all historically accurate and looks great.
Even though avatar combat is not too good atm(but still fun), i love the look of my character.
All in all this game is a keeper for me. Love it!
i was only able to play for an hour last night....my 1yr old son has a fever.....but i checked out the map..3 ports are already starting to have unrest
We formed a group of 6 last night, camped a port and turned it PvP (well the first wave at last, 5k points etc.)
Had a BLAST.
Definitely the best way to XP fyi...I went from 21 to 23 in a few hours...
And yeah we had a red PvP circle right over Morgan's Bluff on the Rackham server last night..it was total madness coming in and out of there...
Reminded me of the early UO days when it was hell trying to get into town from all the reds camping outside!

Some of you never fail to amaze me.
I only played the Beta but I will say this. It doesn't have the potential to become the next EVE.
However, this doesn't mean the game sucks. If it had the potential, then I would be playing POTBS instead of EVE :P

Eve is a great game but I feel POTBS has the potential to be as successful. I hope people dont give up on it too soon...
I hate when people just play a game for an hour and post how bad it is, to get a small idea of how it truly is, they need to play the trial version, and use it to its full extent. I hope PotBS does well, cause i like it so far and don't want it to bomb
Players intend to forget and even the best mmo games were slammed by haters when it was released.
For example..
World of Warcraft ---- What a POS game is this with cartoony figures and pastel colors.
Evequest 2 ---- The characters seem plastic and the grind is unbearable.
SWG ---- WFT kind of game is this, if SOE doesnt fix the servers, it will be the death of this game.
DAoC ---- Can you say a wanna EQ, the capes are cool, but thats it.
City of X ---- Ok, superheroes should just stay in comic books, this game is too damn repetitive.
Ultima Online ---- Diablo is much better than this and I dont have to pay a monthly fee.
Eve Online ---- The game is too complexed for my taste, its definetly a niche game.
You got haters spamming since the mmo's hit the market. PotBS will not be any different than these other mmo's that are still around.
I cant wait to see the haters for AoC and Warhammer Online, I am going to pay much attention to the haters on this website and see if they turn another leaf when these games arrive. Ot will they remain haters.

So when people critize these games that come out, I take it as a grain of salt when judging for myself. Most are people that just dont enjoy the game and get their kicks spamming forums with negative posts. If they cant enjoy the game and see someone else enjoying it, well they feel left out and the only way they can participate in the game is by critizing the game with hate and negative post after post after post after post.. (ditto.....)

But that's true, although it still bugs the crap outta me when they down a game after one hour. Well it's not gonna stop so why complain?

They are different games - Eve is in outer space - Potbs is mostly about historic ship combat on the surface of the planet earth.
The only thing that might be a little similar is the economy.

Have you actually played either game? They've got a lot of similarities actually.
Yes have played them both but they look completely different
i'm an ole sea dog myself & don't fancy flying my sailing ship in outa space or swashbuckling on the moon
i can see why ppl think they are economically similar thou.
potbs will beat eve in subs, mark my words i shall predict it in 3 months

i'm throwing in my $50 to help the game succeed. only played a few hours, but that's more entertainment than fitty at the local meat market aka strip joint...
so, when do brothels get introduced for pirates?
