Did you read my post? Try doing that and try and see *what* I was saying and comment on *that* instead of going into the typical frothing at the mouth "ZOmg ZWoW copied Ze War!"as soon as someone mentions the comparison. Lets go to the WoW forums and post this thread and see how many typical frothing at the mouth "zomg war copied wow" boys and girls we get posting rubbish and running down other peoples opinions. Not that you would point out how WoW fans act. Which are far more typical and trollish than the WAR fans that I've seen. It's a rough business defending against the WoW troll legion. Noones going to get rid of the roaches though. This again had nothing to do with what i stated in the post this reply of mine was aimed at. He was clearly claiming that it is the WOW populace that are making these movies and putting the links to WoW all the time when clearly it is the WAR populace making these comparison movies in order to make clear the differences they see in them. ----------
On that note however. Besides the fact that they look similar, WAR is just that, a MMO , just like WOW is a MMO, and besides some graphical similarities NEITHER of these franchises had anything to do with MMO's before this. Actually Mythic had a previous mmo, which to me shares more simliarities graphically. The only graphical similarities I see between wow and war are some minor environment details and basic fundamentals.. like they both have orcs and the anatomy of the races. Naturally I was speaking of Warhammer versus Warcraft here. The fact that Mythic is involved has little to do with the original Warcraft stole from Warhammer debate. It's like both of them building a Car and painting them with WAR graphics and some zealot coming at us spitting saliva all over us how he explains Warhammer did it all first and WoW stole it yet the only point where that's of significance is the looks, which for me is only a small part of what makes that thing and you can bet your behind I'm *way* more interested in the engine in that car than I am about the looks. I'm not good with cars so my analogy might be a bit off, but both built a car, one designed it to look like a Civic, and the other like an Accord. They are both cars(mmos) but one looks sleeker, has more options like a sunroof(Pub quests, tome of knowledge, etc.), and has a custom paint job. The other is a basic white with no options. As far as engines well, one is still in the prototype stage. Tweaks will come just like every other car gets over time. Yes this is your opinion and I don't share it ^^ At least I have the decency to leave the comparison open to everyone's own interpretation of it however, yet you have to restate the comparison in a way that makes one game seem much less than the other. I would say they're both cars with custom paintjobs and they both have different peripherals.
WAR isn't reinventing the weel here. They didn't make some hovercraft or UFO here instead of a car, they copied the car just like everyone else did and added/changed a few of the peripherals, that's it. True they aren't, but they are taking a wheel and putting the spinner rims on it. Perhaps, but then again I'm not quite sure the weel they're making is entirely round yet, not to mention i'm definately not convinced yet they may not end up wearing it down with bad decisions very quickly like they did in Daoc
Its stupid to compare two games that have so completely different coding. WoW is after all a few years old now...new gfx systems have been developed since then...
Yeh it's sooo stupid to compare two similar games which are both similar looking aswel.

This infinite quote thing sucks... lol.
Well then don't steal my style!
Honestly I wasn't commenting based on your previous comments, but more on you calling him a typical WAR fan without the acknowledgement that WoW fans are far worse and abundant. If you deny this you are mad... MAD I Say! It's just annoying to think people are not supposed to defend something they are appreciating. I try to stay as neutral as possible but sometimes it does get a tad tiresome when you see WAR sucks WoW is better over and over and over... it's a broken record.
I think that is the problem. People aren't comparing it to DAOC and it's upgraded graphics engine.. but yet they compare it to WoW. Graphically Warhammer versus Warcraft have similarites based on what I mentioned. I'm not even going to get into the who stole what first argument.
The thing is that there are more peripherals on WAR than WoW, One does look sleeker (of course subjectively) but that does not mean that the other car can be upgraded and tweaked out as well. Or just build a newer car that beats WARs.
The point is that they are expanding on previous ideas and creating some new ones along the way. As many mmos do. None reinvent the wheel (fundamentals) but they all try to add their own tweaks and style to it.
I don't think that my analogy had personal slant since I said WoW was the same thing when it first came out. It took the wheel and put spinner rims on it, or it was the new car on the block with a custom paint job.
Well if the wheel is round or not noone can say with 100% certainty yet, and if it is and it is decked with spinner rims, not everyone will like spinner rims either.
To the guy above what will be the differences between the warrior priest and the knight class for the empire? Is it like Paladin and Warrior?
What?
Warrior Priest looks to be similar to a Warrior and a Cleric from Daoc. Melee abilities, Heals, Pbae heal that procs off of melee, buffs, etc.
The Knight class looks like it could work two ways, A melee fighter or a support buffer.
I hope you wasn't trying to trap me... that was a weak attempt. If you were actually doing that as well... tell me the difference between the "Mage" and any other standard caster class from previous mmos.
Maybe I'm wrong Slannmage... but I've seen your name before, and something tells me you are trying to trap me .

Slannmage comes from warhammer as in slannmage priest i think it was called from when i painted my lizardmen many many years ago. I'm just wondering the difference because i loved the look of the empire towns in the beta video they showed and watched the CG trailer and the warrior priest looks sooo kool but i don't want to play a boring Paladin type class like WOW lol.
I loved the shadow priest on WOW anything like that in WAR?

I believe these would be your choices if you enjoyed playing a Shadow Priest in WoW.
One offers drains/transfers/heals, while the other offers pure dark magic.
Disciple of Khaine
(supposing you are male)
Disciple of Khaine
The chosen dark priests of the bloody handed god, The Disciples of Khaine, can be found on the frontline of any Druchii assault. Using wicked ritual blades, a Disciple harvests the essence of their enemy and offers it to Khaine in exchange for fell blessings and dark powers. These dark gifts allow the Disciple to tend to the needs of the Dark Elf host, mending bones, suppressing pain, and even raising critically injured warriors to fight again. The Disciple of Khaine is the shepherd of war, ensuring the bloody slaughter can continue in the name of their dark god.
Disciple of Khaine Speciality
The Disciple of Khaine is a true master of murder. Trained in the dark rites of Khaine, a Disciple can steal the strength of a soul with just a nip of their razor sharp blades. With the essence of s soul taken from their opponents, the Disciple can enact dark rites, calling upon Khaine’s favor to bless Druchii warriors. This can make soldier immune to pain and even raise the dead to fight once more. A Disciple is also a consummate fighter and skilled torturer for Khaine relishes the essence taken from a slow agonizing demise over that of a quick well placed deathblow.
Playing as a Disciple of Khaine
The Disciple of Khaine must be in close range of his opponent as he requires the blood of the enemy to enact their dark rites. As such, a Disciple is trained both with the blade and the dark arts, capable of weaving the two into a staggering blend of offensive and defensive power. In small fights, the Disciple is a master of shifting the balance of a fight; what they reap from their enemies they give to their allies. What was once an opponent’s strength will soon become their own.
Disciple of Khaine Look
Wickedly barbed armors made of heavy leather and steel High collared gorgets with partial facial masks Wields twin ritual blades, or carries a single blade and ritual chalice
Sorceress/Sorcerer
(supposing you are male)
In times of war the Witch King calls upon his Convents of Sorceresses to rain death and destruction down upon the target of his ire. Their magical prowess will blight the warriors of the opposing army, scorch their souls from their bodies and bring ruination and curses aplenty upon their heads.
Sorceress Speciality
Like their High Elf kin, the Dark Elves are innately magical creatures. However, Dark Elf magic users do not commune with the magical energies of the Winds of Chaos and attempt to use them in harmony; instead they use sheer force of will to bend the Winds to their dark intentions. This form of magic is known as Dhar, or Dark Magic. Dark Magic spells are incredibly destructive and capable of shattering almost any defense. However, this power does not come without a price. If the Sorceress’s will falters even a little the unstable power of Dark Magic will turn back upon the caster with a powerful backlash.
Playing as a Sorceress
The Sorceress is a powerful offensive caster, knowledgeable in the arcane arts that cause pain and suffering. A Sorceress can call upon the Dark Arts to curse her opponents causing lingering anguish. She is also proficient in manipulating the Winds of Magic to create powerful destructive spells. However, her most powerful asset is her Dark Magic. By sheer will alone, the Sorceress can gather the magical energy around her to increase the destructive power of her spells. The more Dark Magic gathered by these workings, the greater the destruction a Sorceress can cause. However, the greater the Dark Magic gathered, the harder it is to control. A Sorceress must always carefully juggle the destructive power of her spells with the will it takes to control such powerful energies. Failing to do so will result in a backlash of magic that can severely injure the caster.
Sorceress' Look
Ornate robes of finely cut silks, embroidered in dark script Wickedly pointed headdresses and circlets encrusted in gems Wields twisted staves of metal and wood that pulse with dark energies

It's all a matter of taste.

WAR orcs look so much more badass than the WoW ones...man, if I ever get this game, I'm gonna be real tempted to play orc

Yea Slannmage as Shifty suggests the Disciple would be closest to Shadow Priest.
They will be Dot/Lifetap(drain) machines I'm thinking.. and probably one of the best Healer/support careers as far as survivability.
If you go to HammerWiki you can look at alot of the skills Warrior Priests will have.
Shame they're elves though

People are comparing and will compare WAR vs. WoW graphics, and it seems pretty clear to me that WAR comes out on top.
But -- in essence -- the games are two fundamentally different games. They are based on two opposing gameplay types.
~ WoW, an immensely popular game, is primarily a PvE game with high-end, item-centric raiding. It also has PvP.
~ WAR, a potentially popular game, is primarily an RvR (PvP) game with high-end, RvR combat goals (city capture). It also has PvE.
Even if -- to some degree -- the games look similar, they are, in fact, two very different games.
So, the point is:
~ If you want a PvE game with some PvP -- then you should play WoW.
~ If you want a PvP (RvR) game with some PvE -- then you should plan on playing WAR.
And, since I already know that RvR is about as much fun as you can have with your pants on ( ), I'll be playing WAR.
And I promise to keep my pants on.

WoW, a game that is coming out in a few months looks better than a game that game out over 3 years ago
/shock, there should be public health warnings for threads like these.
I dunno WOW's new expansion is looking amazing.
