The story was decent. Except the sleeping around thing. One time I selected a dialog option like "long time no see, how have you been?" and the next thing I know she's in the sack with him. I was surprised, to say the least.
Combat is incredibly repetitive, and more than a little frustrating. You can easily go from being overwhelmed to overpowered, depending on which options you choose. Hint: if you're struggling, max out the Fire sign, and you can burn your way through just about anything.
By the second city, I realised I wasn't actually enjoying the game, I was just trying to progress the story. So I sold it and watched a movie instead. Much more satisfying. You know, stories in games are great, and have a place, but make a decent game first, eh
You have to take his review with a rather large grain of salt. First, he generally doesn't like RPGs of an kind, regardless of platform. Also, after his Orange Box review he basically said that people tend not to like it when the review is positive. Which makes a lot of sense really. Bad or even highly critical reviews are typically more fun to read/listen to as there are far more joke opportunities. While he does often make valid points the reviews are primarily entertainment. And they are all highly entertaining.
It's his job to highlight all the bad points in video games with a hilarious twist. And he does it well.
At least you know what the worst part of the game is and won't be surprised when you buy it. I always look at the bad points in a game before deciding to try it. There's no point looking at the good points when there are unforgivable bad ones. =P

False unless you mean giving a final verdict of it's ok to buy or play this game doesn't undo any criticisms he makes about the product. He actually gave thumbs up for two games, one of them being Crysis of all things.

Taking Zero puncutuation seriously is a mistake. Its witty but not always fair.
For example the alchemy is very simple and you can make anything whether you have found the recipes or not. There is a guide on gamefaqs that lists all the recipes. You just get alcohol and 2-4 for ingredient types. There are only 4 types of ingredients. The only hard part is getting enough money/alcohol and managing your resources.

HOWEVER he does rip apart every single RPG there is. He doesn't like them its a known bias on his part if you've followed him for any length of time. Makes me wonder why he even bothers reviewing them.
Frankly his preferences are to console acfion games with fairly easy control sets. So I find it laughable how he repeatedly goes on rants about how control schemes that are too difficult should be removed from games and then in the next review rips apart a game that is attempting a new control scheme based around simple timing and clicking a single button (hello atari 2600 remember how everyone loved that?)
He also has orgasms of ecstasy over games that are platformers.. personally I hate platformers I find the gameplay dull, unimaginative and repetitive. I find the heavy emphasis on big explosions and less on a good story mind numbing.
Does that mean I don't like his reviews? Nah.. he's fun but just remember he's horribly biased against RPG's just like I'm horribly biased against platformers. He has his tastes and i have mine.
He is however EXTREMELY entertaining lol.
BTW anyone catch his review he had to do quietly cause someone was sleeping in the next room? I got a kick out of that.

This guys reviews sucks half the time..
He ONLY does them to be funny.. Don't go on his word, that would be a mistake. I haven't tried it but I will.. I heard it was a great game..
People need to stop looking at reviews and play games for themself.. BD was a great game got great reviews in Japan but 1up/GP and IGN gave it a bais review<.<
For those of you that don't trust the review or want to try the game out before passing judgment, there's a demo available on FilePlanet so you won't have to blow $50 (non-refundable or transferable) just to give a thumbs up or thumbs down.
At least with console games you can rent the damn things for under $3 first....
The guy obviously doesn't like RPG games. Anyways, just go to websites and read other critic reviews, player reviews, and a score based on player votes. Tons of people obviously disagree with this guy. PC Gamer gave The Witcher a 90/100.

platformers FTW.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

I like Witcher (and would recommend it) but I enjoyed his trashy review too
