giving up warcraft what now ?

yayitsandyyayitsandy Member Posts: 363

after 2 years i ve given up warcraft . although i ve enjoyed it i became pretty bored towards the end . over the past few months i ve tried a few mmos but have yet to find one i enjoy enough to subscribe to it long term .

city of heroes - great mmo and something i ll play now and again ( i kind of wish they had a two weeks sub option so you could jump in now and again without having to pay for a month )

lord of the rings -not bad .the lack of meaningful pvp is my only real gripe . i want to play an orc and develop that not some dwarf :P

eve -this is very good but i m not really into space sim games so not for me

ddo- truly awful just one long dungeon hack ( albiet there are a few instances that are not dungeons)

perfect world-looks good but i hear once you get to level 34 its just a grind fest

vangaurd-sorry i know there are lots of fans of this game but to me it looked and played bad .

everquest 2 - i m just starting the free trial my initial impressions are that its graphics ar nt as good as some other mmo s i ve seen . not that that matters to me as long as it plays well .

star wars galaxys - just a franchise cash in , dont think much of it as a game

guild wars -nice in that its not got a monthly sub . my main niggle is that you cant jump in it lol i ve not yet tried the pvp i hear thats very good

archlord - again nice in that its free . it also looks ok . but its control system is clunky

the unpalatable truth in my experiance is that warcraft is a better game than all the others  (with the possible exception of eve which does nt appeal to me enough to pay a sub) that i ve tried . i  m hoping that  may change in the next year with the releases of warhammer ,conan and a few others this year .

well i m about to try tabula rasa so fingers crossed for that one .

Wait to see what WAR and AOC are like really and if you don't like them two then give up on mmorpgs for a few more years.

Looks like it's been a while since you've played it.  Over a dozen "adventure areas" now, wide open areas to explore, find landmarks, kill beasties, fight unique bosses, etc.  PVP is in the game now, although very limited, still fun diversion.  Crafting is coming next week, not a traditional crafting though, but still over 1200 recipes.

There's a 10 Day Free Trial, I'd recommend giving it a shot again.

p.s. As of Mod 5 (most recent release) they have more than doubled the content since launch, and none of it was paid expansions.

Go lift weights and exercise to make up for the last two years, while you are waiting for either AoC or WAR.

He could compete in the Mr. Universe contest if he lifts weights while waiting for AoC at the pace they're going.

They have a 14 day trial, don't they?  I was thinking of giving it a spin myself at some point.

That would be aweome.  When he is accepting his first place finish, he could thank us and  tell the crowd that he is retirining as soon as AoC comes out!

After playing a MMO game for a while I like to switch it up with a non mmo game.  My current top recommendations (for pc games) are Civ 4 (for turn base strategy), and Orange Box (for TF2 mostly) (for FPS).

I would also recommend to any MMO player who has not MUD’d to try a MUD.  Find a MUD with a good population on www.mudconnect.com  Get zMud.  Have a online RPG blast.
