Originally posted by Esquire1980 CHANGE, after CHANGE, after CHANGE. It doesn't really matter what the CHANGE is. They can't leave nothing alone. EVEN if they code it. CU, NGE, GCW Re-vamp, C6CD, Medic nerf, Glancing blow nerf, and now Block nerf. It's all the same. This DEV team IS no different than all the rest. Ingame, if you rely on it today, it may not be there tomorrow. Now they have threads, on the SWG forums, that they are going to come over here and tell u all how SWG is soooooooo great, now. That's due to DEAD servers with a group mentality that only 3 servers can support. They need even 1 more sub, now cause the dev team will not do anything for the DEAD and DIEING servers and have said as much. I now agree that the only thing that will help SWG is it's total destruction and a complete start over. You people got it only after 2 MASSIVE CHANGES. I guess I'm just a little more thick headed that u all are.
Most of us have been there, it can be hard to let go of something you spent so much time at, and knowing what things could have been.
* Block was implemented ON ACCIDENT to be twice as good as everything else. This wasn't intentional, but the Devs decided to leave it and see where it goes.
* Because it was an accident, everything block based in the game is set up for how block was INTENDED to work, NOT how it currently does.
* Based on the insane block stacking that has been going on, to the point of neigh-invincibility, they are setting block back to what it was ORIGINALLY INTENDED to be.
* With this news, all the people who flocked to block because they knew stacking it would make them practically IMMUNE to crit, another game mechanic, are now whining because they no longer are near-invincible to a mechanic they had no business being near-invincible to in the first place. That's taken from the SWG Forums.
Now did SOE see this coming on Test? Believe me most of the time when someone finds something like that they tend not to talk out loud about it, unless they really believe it should be fixed... Remember you do have people going there before Chapters or with Patches to see if they can find some kinda new hole in the wall to exploit. And what happens EVERY time when it go's onto a live server is people find out about how they do it and before long everyone is doing it... Cases in point? Defence Stacking in the Pre-CU, and gee how long was SWG in Beta? No one found out about it when it was in Beta. Rifleman/BH/Squad Leaders in the CU? Again don't know about you but as I recall people said things about that combo being able to do a one hit kill on another player... I forget if this did make it to live, but I do remember a hell of alot of BH/SL's along with BH/CM's running around. And lets not forget Lava Cannons doing 2x their damage after Heavy Weapons went into the game... Oh! And there was an exploit also that me and a few friends found out about with Jedi as well... It was a macro that allowed a Jedi to swing a Saber about 50 times a second. It was on live and wasn't found on TC, we found out about it after my buddy got killed a few times in PvP by the same guy in almost no time at all. I went with them on an HK run to see how evil this was.... We beat the whole thing in under 10 minutes. Thankfuly after my friend sent SOE all the info about it, they did bring the servers down that day to fix it. And hey it happens on other games too. UO had a few lovely ones after Trammel came out. Warhammers that could kill in two hits, one hit if it was a really powerful magic Warhammer. Around a Warhammer of Power did the trick, same with Lumberjacking and Axes. Lumberjacking being a skill and after Trammel came out for a few weeks in PvP the template was seen alot. So who's to blame for this? Yes SOE should have seen this coming sooner, but the thing you have to remember is they are working on about 20 things at once in the game. It's easy to overlook something. And yes the Players are somewhat to blame for this, those that found out about it on Test Center when this came out, didn't report it. And if people used some logic they would have seen that, chances are it will be nerfed. But rather they ran out and spent a ton of credits on CA's/AA's, and most likely that is why SOE found out about it and is nerfing it... Anyway flame away.
Block MAY have been implimented on accident, but DM posted on the SWG boards that they found it and designed around it. His post said as much as "No big deal". And he was right. It was and is NO BIG DEAL.
The nerf cryers, mostly BHs in this case, still balled their little eyes out and held their breath until they turned blue in the face and got the #1 fan and NGE code boi, Blixtev, to fall in line with their screaming. Henceforth - Block Nerf. This idiot gets on the forums and tells us all that CHANGE is just a way of life in an MMO. CHANGE is a way of life in SWG. Even the other games that have tried MASSIVE CHANGES put out a "classic server" to keep their playerbase up. SWG? Nahhhhh. They are appearently too stupid to figure out what any other gamming company already knows.
And block was never a I win button. It is nothing more than a way to mitigate the crit spike damage that being thrown now by the high DPS professions. It does not negate 100% of the damage just a part.
Kiddie PVPers. who do want an "I win button" think that by nerfing block they'll get it. WRONG. ALL THIS SETS UP is another round of nerf calls against crit stackers. PVP is nothing more that who can get the largest GANK and has pretty much always has been.
And of couce, if you post anything even closely resembleing the truth over at the SWG boards, the forum Gestopo quickly delete it.
I couldn't find another game that I actually liked and went back to SWG after I had hit the cancel button over the Chapter 6 Combat Downgrade. Thats the mistake that a player did make. (me)
The devs don't get it. Never have, never will. The player base keeps falling to new all time lows over CHANGE after CHANGE after CHANGE. The buddy program is only good for the credit sellers/farmers. It's just time to start over.
You SOE fanbois will figure it out too or maybe you won't. Who cares? It will get figured out for you if SOE keeps this crap up. The amount of subs hardly justifies the bandwidth anymore and dollars and cents will dictate the direction that SOE will have to take.
