Ok,maybe they aren't the best,and i only have a liitle info on them,but from what i've read they look really cool, and arent too bad of fighters either. And this is only my opinion so dont be offended.

Also it kinda depends on what race your hunter is too. You wouldnt really want a Night Elf with a tiger cause which one is gonna tank? But i guess if you have a Tauren hunter with a bear (the tauren carrying an axe) you both can get in the face of the enemy and bash it to hell

Any race can game any animal flagged as a "creature"

So a tauren and a Nelf could have the same pet.

 

Also a tauren and a Nelf should be able to tank just as well for any race of the hunter class. Race isn't that big a factor in WoW, well not to the point that it makes 1 race better at being a class than another race.

 

So it really depends what type of pet you tame, and what kind of abilities you teach it.

i agree i think hunters rule especialy night elf hunters. i also rather to be a hunter becuase running is slow i need to fly something such a gryphon (Human). But i wanted to know if your running through the forest and find something like a wolf can you tame it to be your own pet or grow it to be your mount.

You cant tame mounts from what i have read, you buy them or gain them through a quests. I think Nelf hunters are the coolest because they kind of go with the night elf mentallity. I will try and tame a bear for tanking and use full range for my combat, maybe if i can buff a bear. Can you buff a bear as a hunter? Also race does matter, because with different races you get different hero classes, say you ahve a Nelf hunter and a Troll hunter, the night elf and troll will have different hero classes as hunters.

Unless im missing something...there isnt any info on hunters on the main site cuz they arent implemented yet in the beta sooooooo we dont really know how good hunters are and what you can or cant tame....who knows you might only get pets from quests for all we know! Plus racial bonuses arent fully implemented either so you never know a troll hunter might have a better advantage over a NE hunter *shrugs* no one really knows for sure till blizzard puts hunters into the beta.

As for riding "flying" mounts IE gryphons and dragons... I dont think they will be rideable come release I think I remember reading something about flying mounts being to overpowered cuz you could just fly over mountains to get to hard to reach areas you otherwise cant get to till much later in lvls.

But non the less im curious to see how they implement hunters and what role they play...

First off, you guys really really REALLY need to do your research.

I've been reading very VERY heavily up on WoW for the past 7 months straight, at least an hour a day of info gathering... that's a lot of info.

 

First off. We do know a lot about hunters, they were in the internal Alpha testing, and as a result, blizzard posted the hunter info up on the old WoW site. There's also been a lot of responses given by the devs in the FAQ's, and on the beta forums, and reviews done by magazines where they asked questions regarding hunters.

Second, you mention Hero classes. Blizzard hasn't said how they plan to impliment Hero classes, they plan to, but they have released VERY little info on it, so basicaly anything you hear about Hero classes atm is just rumors.

Now regarding the flying mounts, they arn't mounts, there are no flying mounts. The gryphons, wyverns etc, are basicaly just "taxis" you pay a fee, and it takes you from point A to point B. Anyone can use these taxis, requires no training, no skill, no class-race requirement.

The flying thing you read about that was too powerful, was the Druid's 'travel' form which was a bird, even though it could only fly at head height, they decided it was still too much of an advantage, and currently the travel form is a feline, which they intend to change later to another type of a fast land mammal, because a lot of people think having 2 cat forms for the druid is boring and redudnant.

Okay now the thing about hunters, we DO know what they can tame, as I said in my first post, anything flagged as a "creature" is tamable. There was a thread where Kat said what would be tamable, and there's threads where people listed every creature they found marked as such. Wolves-spiders-tigers-bears-crabs-raptors are some, just to name a few. We also know HOW they will tame them, no it's not through quests, it's through tracking and finding the animal, selecting it, then using the taming skill, some times you have to use another skill first to 'sedate' it somewhat so it won't attack you. Once you've successfuly tamed it, you get that 1 pet with you until you choose to discard it. The pet can level, and be trained new abilities, based on what breed of it's species it is. Not all arctic wolves for example will be able to learn the same powers as other artic wolves. So First you need to find the right type of creature, and then make sure you get one that has the right powers-abilities you want in that type of creature.

Regarding race effecting being a hunter. So far with all the OTHER classes people claim race has very VERY little effect on your class. It's all in how you spec your traits (which are currently disabled, until they've been reworked). Then there's racial traits, however they said the racial traits won't be anything that will make 1 race better for being a certain class. They've said time and time again, they want to avoid the best race-class combo that most MMORPG's fall victim too. Meaning, say you're a warrior in DAOC for the mids, then odds are you're going to play a troll over a kobold, because of the extra str-con. In WoW stats are effected more by your class than they are by your race. So I really doubt some minor racial trait is going to make 1 race better at being a hunter than another.

Also, pets arn't the same as mounts, you can have a pet, and a mount AND ride one of the air taxi's. I would tell you the level cap for pets, but that's something they're reworking atm, along with some other things. I think that answers all your questions-misconceptions.

I just think the Dwarf Hunter with the rifle is the absolute coolest! I mean Nelf Hunters with thier cutesy bows are all well and good, but a Dwarf gunner is awesome

I shall make a prediciton. Night Elf Hunter will be the most played Race/Class combo. I used to want to be a hunter of any race until I found out what hunters are all about. It turned me away quickly. I cannot imagine myself purched on a hill and sicking my pet out while I sit there and take pot shots at any enemies with my bow. In my eyes, there is no glory in that. I want to feel as if I had accomplished something when I kill my "prey". I don't want to feel like back up to my animal. That is why I like the melee classes much more than the range/caster ones. If I can charge a beast and kill it with my sword, I will feel like I accomplished something.

You dont have to take out a bow or gun to back up your pet if you are a hunter. In fact, you can take out a sword or axe to slash and bash at your enemy along side your pet. Thats what I am planning to do with my Tauren and Bear. If you really want a pet to tag along with you and fight with you but dont want to be ranged then dont worry, there are melee skills (well i think there are) for the hunter.

Well u dont have to use a bow or gun when ur pet is attacking, you could fight right beside it if u wanted but why give up the oppotunity to ues ur bow or gun if thats what the class is ment for????Am i right??

I willl probably be a N E hunter, i dont really know why but it just seems to me as a great combonmation.

But i also think a tauren would be a good hunter,also theyre really strong so they could have any pet(since they can tank for the pet).

And i dont know about you guys but to me the coolest pet would be either a spider that can poison,shoot web,and something else that i forgot , or a huge green raptor.

Also i wanted to know if a hawk would be a good pet, because they can disarm but are they gonna really do much???

Hunter certainly appeals to many ppl wanting ranged attacker/NPC or pet for companion/meat shield. Appart from that, since not much concrete info has been released on this class, and it's not in beta so no reviews/evaluations of the Hunter. It accounts for all the extry hype this class has. But i don't c any reason why it should be overplayed/unbalanced as some here suggest. Popular - sure it seems to be very popular, more popular than any other class - not neccessarily, untill ppl start playing it and be able to compare.

I think why people think hunters rule so far is there not alot of info on them so they can't really tell if there good or bad and that people havent played then yet i bet after about maybe 1month after WoW retails the hunter class will die done alot.

God I remember in SWG(Starwars Galaxies) people flocked to the Creature Handler class cuz they wanted to have 3 huge ass rancors and slaughter people left and right. CH were so overpowered in the early stages they got hit with the nerf bat hard...plus not to mention all the CH related bugs...there was one bug where you could call doubles/triples of your pets and have more then 3 out at a time my friend had 12 yes 12 rancors out at one time! Talk about scary! O_O...

I just hope hunters arent overpowered like CH were in SWG cuz if they are expect to see a HUGE bandwagon of people going to play hunter even if they had no intrest in playing that class... especially on the FvF servers cuz people on the FvF servers will do anything to get an edge in combat
