Its funny how everyone wants to be a NE hunter and they havent even been implemented yet.....Im kinda curious about playing a NE hunter as well but if everyone and their mom are gonna play it I may just stear away from that race... think about opening day of retail... TONS of people in NE starter town fighting over mobs hahaha.... Depending on my friends Ill probabaly end up playing a less popular race like troll or tauran (dont hear many people saying they wanna be a troll or tauran hunter hehe)

I agree with you Vakktn on Nelf Hunter being the most popular race-class combo.

There was a semi-official poll that was linked to by all the major forums, and nelf-hunter was THE most desired race-class combo.

I know for a fact I want to play a hunter because of all I've learned about the class, and it's the MAIN feature WoW has that makes me want to play it. The pet taming-training system is something I've been looking for in an mmorpg ever since UO. There's been so called 'pet' ranger classes in other games, but none with the variety of possabilities that the WoW hunter will have. Finaly a pet class in an mmorpg where any type of pet can be just as good as another, because you can LEVEL them and they stay with you.

As for the Nelf thing, if I could be a human hunter I would, but currently the choices are just Nelf-Dwarf for the alliance... I really want to play alliance as my main, the idea of a dwarven hunter with a rifle just doesn't fit my RP story I've adapted for all previous fantasy genre mmorpg's I've played. That leaves tauren-troll-orc if I wanted to go horde. Troll hunter is something I've been pondering pretty heavily lately. Though it does depend on this, I want to ride a wolf as a mount. Atm they say they're going to allow cross-faction mounts. Meaning orcs riding human mounts etc if they're willing to spend the skill points. So if I can be a nelf hunter riding the orc mount (a wolf) with a wolf as a pet, I would be as giddy as a school girl at prom.

Now in regards to tons of people playing them... Well I'm hoping it ends up like every other game I played the "ranger" architype class in. DAOC for example everyone wants to be a ranger-scout-hunter they made up 50% of the server populations in the low levels, however as leveling advances people find it hard to play the ranged class. Very and I mean VERY few people have what it takes to take a ranged class to cap level. Groups are usualy harder, and soloing is usualy slower. I don't know what it is, but people get bored with those classes for some reason, all those legolas's etc don't get very far. Infact, I almost pray the class begins so gimped, and so worthless that it's virtualy pointless just to play one. Being that I never play the 'l33t' classes, I always play the underpowered gimped class and prove to people just how effective they are. If I weren't so attached to the pet type class, I wouldn't even consider playing it in WoW, however it's that very class that is my main reason for wanting to play WoW.

As a result, like you said, may be worth considering playing a troll. I've loved trolls ever since my days playing MOTG, and Warcraft trolls are the only trolls that look like trolls to 'me'. Tall, lanky, skinny. (a lot like me lol) Trolls in every other mmorpg I've played have always been big golem like creatures, so I've never had any interest in them. Also as a troll I'll be guaranteed the ability to ride wolves.

Though there's another thing I need to consider. The Multi-gaming association I'm in is going to have a horde AND alliance faction. Which for reasons I'm sure none of you care about, might make me want to make my alliance character my hunter.

This is something I'm sure I won't decide until after the first day of release.
