If I want to play with my friends, do we have to be the same alliance?

Say I wanted to be an elf and he wanted to be an orc, would we be able to play together or would we be mortal enemies for the entire game?

It's almost as big a decission as choosing the red or blue pill... What ever you pick will effect you the entire game, for better or worse. I'm sure you'll find common ground with your friend. If not, play a round of WC3, winner picks the faction.

What I'd do in that situation is ... choose a server. Both of you play Alliance there. Choose a second server and both of you play Horde there. Then you can swap back and forth as the mood swings. That way you both stay similar levels and you both get to play your favorite races.
You may level a bit slower, but hey, leveling isn't everything!

I agree with LoStCaUz3, I think it would be pretty fun to battle your friends every once in a while to see who is the strongest. Also some good bragging rights go to the victor.

That's what dueling is for.
It's not exactly going to be easy seeking out your friend when s/he is on the opposite faction, chances are you'd have to use voice communications and determine a meeting place, then hope nobody from either faction is there, or follows you, hope you don't get ganked because one way or another the "meeting place" will likely be on one of the faction's turf, among other variables to consider.
So in conclusion if you want to play together but every once in a while go up against each other for bragging rights, that's the very purpose of dueling.

A better question is why would you wanna pick the Alliance at all? Especially nightelves I mean come on...be a man, pick an Orc, Tauren maybe even a troll. Then you can duel you're friends anyway and not look like such a nancy boy while you do it.

Well....I am gonna play on multiple servers...i will have friends i;m sure on like 2-3 servers sp pne server will be alliances with friends...one will be horde wiht other friends...and other will be like w.e for fun

I am confused...I thought it is possible to join as allianz and as horde in the same party.
I thought that there are spezial Horde vs Allianz Server and spezial PvP Server and there are Server whre u can mix ur party or am I totaly wrong?!?
I also heared about spezial Regions on one server and that there will be only 3 or 4 Server like b.net

No its not possible. AllianCE and the horde can not party together as of now. There is one speCial PvP server as of now, more to be implemented later Im sure. Even in PvE AllianCE and horde can not party.

Only reason Im criticizing spelling is because you obviously did it on purpose, and ignorance, when done on purpose is one of my biggest pet peeves.
nope, no hanging out with the opposing faction. Only killing them or running from them. I heard if you had some skill points to waste you could learn opposing languages. at booty bay you can trade or auction w/both factions.

Thats actually a good point...if the Horde and Alliance are gonna be at constant war on the NORMAL servers then what IS the point of having a faction PVP server? I don't get it...can someone with beta please clear this up?

After visting the World of worcraft Town Hall and the FAQ I got the first impression about the horde vs allianz style of this game.
It realy seems that it won't be possible to have a Horde + Allianz Party.
So I think this is a feature that EQ2 has stole by WoW cause there will be the same.
