the toaster has buttons, which to me look suspiciously like they perform some kind of function. again, trying to jump into bed with WoWs sucess and its invention of hotkeying.
any 6 year old could press the buttons on the toaster, and its a 100% truthful and known fact that blizzards player base is made entirely of 6-10 year olds. coincidence?i think not. aiming for the WoW playerbase.
the useage of a cat is a copy of the druids cat form, and the nightsabers that elves use as mounts.

I applaud the idea of getting burned by the toaster,as this at least adds an element of risk versus reward.eating the toast itself may also burn your mouth,or those with sensitive teeth may not enjoy the crispy edges,so not any noob can come along and eat it.

    .....

My god....you're right!  Hello Kitty toaster is a WoW clone too....

On a good note, it does give me another reason to hate elves now.

I'm one of those poor souls who believe that Asheron's Call should have been the formula that MMO's followed rather than EQ. Quests can be fun, but all these individual gather this and bring it back quests are just plain tedious. I don't care if I don't level very fast, as long as there is some significant reward for doing it. I prefer to solo and explore. AC had some pretty significant death penalties in the begining and as much of a pain as it was to have to track down your corpse to get your stuff back, it was fun. Games are too easy now. I also want to go back to the days of monthly events. Big events that feel like the whole world was up in arms, and made you feel like no matter what level you were, you could make a difference. And event videos....*sigh* I wish I could turn back time and go back to those good old days.

eq1 did not have quests in the traditional sense, you couldnt do quests to level. In fact quests were generally a pain to complete but also very rewarding. When you did epic weapon quests, you needed a raid force for most of them. There were very few bring me X of these, and Ill give you silver and xp.

We'll start off by listing the features we can't use;

    No fantasy settings.
    No multiple races.
    No multiple classes.
    No instanced areas.
    No non-instanced areas.
    No PVP.
    No PVE.
    No in-game chat.
    No Auction House.
    No raiding.
    No loot drops.
    No tiered gear.
    No monthly fee.
    No spells or abilities.
No hotbar for above-mentioned spells and abilities.
No talent, ability, or skill points.
    No character progression.
    No grinding.
    No quest-givers.
    No quests.

Okay. Now that we have all that, we take what's left and make a game! Without further ado, I give you, The Non-WoW-Clone-Game!

Nope, that's not a screenshot, that's the full game. Enjoy.
The point to all this is that there's a difference between similar themes and outright copyright infringement. There's only one game I'd actually consider a WoW clone, and that's Talisman Online. I'm guessing the only reason the Blizz lawyers haven't brought down thier almighty wrath is that they don't know abbout it.

most of those features are standard in MMORPGS, WoW didn't invent any of that stuff imo.

The OP's post was a JOKE! and a good one too as it had a practical point.

If i didnt have to endure this:

    • No fantasy settings.
    • No multiple races.
    • No multiple classes.
    • No instanced areas.
    • No non-instanced areas.
    • No Auction House.
    • No raiding.
    • No loot drops.
    • No tiered gear.
    • No monthly fee.  Yes there would be.
    • No spells or abilities.
    • No hotbar for above-mentioned spells and abilities.
    • No talent, ability, or skill points.  We would have real skills, not pretending to have skills.
    • No character progression. Only skill based. No health increase.
    • No grinding.
    • No quest-givers.
    • No quests.

That would be a real living sandbox MMO, and that i would play it right away. But why try to make it sound as WoW had this first.

    I've studied the image...

and the toast isn't toasted evenly.

Look at the middle? Still all white and un-toastified.

The edges are nice and toasted but the middle?

No way I'm spreading jam on that.

    Vaporware.

Lucky to get 1-2 million subs with toast that unevenly toasted.

  • Sorry all games are WoW clones even EvE online.  Didn't you get the memo in beta?

Look, can't you see that the untoasted part creates the image of Hello Kitty!?  I'm glad someone finally had the balls to make a toaster-based MMO that has a unique gameplay concept like that.  It sets it apart from all the other nameless cloned toaster MMOs.

You should have that checked out.  It might not be milk, after all.

And thank you for being able to see this thread and actually "get" it.  I was starting to lose faith in humanity.  That is unless, of course, you aren't human.  I'm down with a hawt alien invasion though.  You bring the tentacled babes and I'll get the keg.

OMG your right it does toast the Hello Kitty image into the bread!

Nevermind what I said about vaporeware!

This will easily be a WoW-killer.

Yes OP you are right, every MMO out there is a WoW clone:

EvE online - WoW clone cause it's online just like WoW

Guildwars - WoW clone cause you can only play humans, and humans are playable in WoW

Age of Conan - WoW clone cause it has pvp

EQ 1 - WoW clone, everything is exactly like in WoW,sure you could say EQ 1 was out before WoW but what people fail to realize,is that SOE made a pact with the devil and they got a time machine, went into the future copyed WoW and came back to the past and released the WoW clone named EQ 1

Planetside - WoW clone cause it has different continents, see just like Kalimdor,Azeroth and Outland in WoW !

    etc.

    Pacman Online would fit maybe.

Damn it OP you tricked me I thought I was finally going to get to be the ultimate satanic evil!   Damn you I say Damn you!   Taking my dreams of world domination and stomping on them like a roach

On a Side note nice funny...I can't believe anyone tried to make this a serious discussion lol I mean its obvious what you were making fun of ... even more funny are the people who tried to be serious that weren't even the targets of the joke.

This thread gives you startling insight on where all those players who thought they were "1337" but always seemed like they couldn't use their keyboards, and then blamed other people in the party for their failures come from.  MMORPG.COM!

Ok, I thought the op was being sarcastic, but had to make sure..

Anyway, when people say WoW clone, what they mean is this:

Tons of pointless quests to exp

    Instanced PVE Systems

    Instanced PVP Systems

    No incentive for real PVP

    Hand-Holding approach

Characters that all look the same

    Gear sets for certain classes

    Talent trees

    Same Races as WoW

(Classes can be same as WoW without it being a clone, since they are pretty common in most all MMORPGS)

a fine jest indeed op, until i read your very last paragraph, and you killed the humerous sarcasm.

folks talking about wow clones or the existance of them have never played anything but wow and make uneducated assumptions based on this. wow built their game with "borrowed" ideas from every single mmo, rpg, fantasy, pvp, non pvp, out there, they also use the AOL business model. why AOL hasnt sued wow i will never know. they are probably in cahoots.

and for the folks that dont get the aol joke, have you ever baked a loaf of bread?

can you smell that?!!...............there is nothing quite like it.....................the smell of troll in the morning............i love that smell.

I have played the Hello Kitty Toaster and I give it an 8.5/10.  It's fun, and the endgame is satisfying, but the game just feels a little bit short on the whole.  Although, it's easily the best title you can get without paying a monthly fee.  Worlds better than Guild Wars.

I'll take a WoW clone over any moldy, cobwebbed hardcore crap the dev companies pull out of their asses.

With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal
