I don't really get why all the players in PotBS cannot play in one world (on one server)?
Why wasn't it designed this way?
The world would be to small for that in my opinion. Don't know how many cities can be conquered and so, didn't think I needed to, there are only so many ports out there. But a brief look at it I dont think the gameplay(?) even if they would manage with the server could work with to many players.
jesus schrist dont u get it people a mmorpg is supposed to have as much people ass possible if there are only 300 people i mean comon i know a private server for wow that has at least 1500 players on all the time so cmon
I play in Roberts now and pop is even increasing... im gonna play it after the 30d trial and i think many ppl will, so i think theres not any problem at all with potbs and though the big gorillas are coming, aka aoc and WAR it will keep in shape as there is another gaming style involved in the Burning Seas.
Roberts is the only English EU server. Heavy on that one is around 300-400 players (Pirate faction /whocount 344 last two days). With Spain and France on light (most of the time) that makes it a little more then 1000 players on that server. I don't know if you can call that growing.
Played: From Earth & Beyond, Anarchy Online, Matrix Online, Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Age of Conan, Tabula Rasa (Beta), EvE Online, City of Villians, Atlantica Online, Guild Wars, Lineage 2, Pirates of the Burning Sea, PlanetSide, RF Online, Second Life, Fallen Earth.
Welcome to MMORPG.COM PotBS forum bewicked, pull up and chair and enjoy your stay.... You will see all sorts of discussions here that are relevant to the game and some information thats irrelevant. You will get information from people that still play and from people dont but think they know what they are talking about since they only played Beta. Its a wonderful world is'nt it!
And here you have the negative old grandpa that you meet on the subway.

Spain and France is actually most on medium/heavy not light.

Two possibilities:
1 - Technological limitation of the platform's maximum number of concurrent users. The platform I remember sometime ago was licensed from Activision. The ability for a platform to allow for near unlimited number of concurrent users was only recently made available, with Big World being the first.
2 - Business practices; with PotBS allowing for capturing of ports and to keep the world map on the small side, the server clusters were broken down into smaller sizes. For example, if one side was "winning" it is possible that players would then start to switch over to the winning side. But with multiple server clusters allowed, a player can elect to go to a server cluster in which the player's side is winning.
Also would like to thank others for posting the screenshots of the server populations. There is no need to know what the actual numbers are, just the progression of how the server populations are moving along. I believe it is safe to say that a big launch with a high spike effect did not occur. Rather a slow push with a slow growth effect (ie Eve-Online) may occur.
And that is why...
Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.
On Guadelope, population is definitely increasing. Last week, I'd only occasionally see another player. Now I see other players all the time. And some ports have dozens of players in town. It's obvious this game is gaining popularity as more and more people say it is fun and worthwhile.
I saw custom sails for the first time yesterday. And I must say it looked awesome. I immediately sent the guy a tell and asked him all about his society; and said how cool I thought his sails looked.
I'm enjoying it quite a bit.
Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon. In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit

Well Rackham has one more pirate.

As far as population goes, I've played CoX for years with a low population, still fun for those that like it.
Although I do think this game is under rated at the moment.
There is just way too much MMO snobbery (people playing only the most popular game).

I like to hear this. Been mowing over if I should shell out the 50$ or not to try the game. And population is one of the big deciding factors for me.
My opinion matters to everyone...
