There are a couple things i find wrong with the 24-hour thing.
1-Like one of you guys said, when you are traveling, the sun goes up and down, this way it seems more REALISTIC. And scaling and stuff, is like estimating, he didnt mean down to the wire. SO having a 24-hour clock wouldn't be fun, i would have to make that travel in the dark the whole time, when i could be missing out on an awesome sunset or something along those lines.
2-I play the computer around the same time everyday, so if they had the 24 hour thing. I wouldnt ever get to play during the day or night, depend son wich they set it to. I would always see the world the same way, and that would get very boring and runescape'ish.
3-If they do like 1-2 hour day/night cycles, i am perfectly happy, actually. That is the perfect time for those cycles, they dont really need to scale much. But it would make it, so everyone at one time or another will be able to expirience both day and night.
Well you already know my vote.... 12 hour time clock (6 hour days/6 hour nights) any less would be too short and wouldnt be any different then any other game which would defeat its purpose

I agree with most everyone that a relistic clock system with 24-hrs would be pretty sweet. Never again haveing that feeling of playing the game (where its nightime) while I have to sit next to a big fan in the noon-day heat, of seeing the break of dawn at 2:00 in the morning a la other MMORPGS. The only concern I have is that MOST users have restrictions (jobs, family, school, ect.) that will not allow them to log on casually during the day. Therefore many, like me, would only be logging on during the same 2-3hr period every day, causeing me to never see the beutys of the worl in the day-light unless I get a day off work. Thats my only concern, that and I would prefer a summer day/night ratio with about 16hrs days and 8hr nights.

That brings up an interesting point: the issue here isn't with the clock - it's with their system for daylight. Admittedly, it would be a waste if every day in the game world were in equinox (same amount of daytime & nightime) and sunrise & sunset always occurred @ the same times each day. But the clock has little to do with this - after all, our system of time was concieved around our planet's orbit, not the other way around. So they could easily still have 24 hour days. They could just change the times of dawn & dusk each day to compensate, mimicing the seasons IRL. As a quick example, on Monday dawn/dusk times could be @ 4:30a / 12:50p, making for daylight conditions during most of the day. Throughout the week, these times are staggered so that by Thursday dawn/dusk occur @ 11:20a / 7:30p, devoting the majority of that day's time to the night. Then for the rest of the week, the times shift accordingly so that by Monday they are back to where they started. An even better system could be devised such that no single time of day is always under daylight or nighttime conditions throughout a given period of days. Such an established pattern for shifting day- & nighttimes around the clock would be more than adequate, to say the least, but if it were expanded to account for geography (i.e. one continent has daylight while the other is dark) then it would be that much more impressive. Of course, it would absolutely rule if they could establish random events like solar eclipses, daylight during nighttime, & crazy stuff like that, but that's probably just wishful thinking.
I fricking hate it... I spend my time on the PC from 10pm-3am. So I will NEVER see the sun, it will ALWAYS be dark, I will never get to enjoy the games sunrise, sunset, or seeing things in the daylight, I will be playing in constant darkness.
For those of you who think the 'rumor' that there are night-day quests are non-existant, you're only partialy correct. Because there are some mobs that only spawn at night, and some that only spawn during the day and the devs have said that several quests require the killing of these mobs. What they said it there's no quests that require being at a certain place at an exact time. Regardless, 24 hour clock means that night can't be overly dangerous-darker. If the night was so dark you had to carry some form of lighting to get around easily, it would make it more noticable. As it is now, they can't make it too dangerous or difficult to play at night, because it lasts so long. I'd like a little faster clock, a 6 hour cycle might be ideal, since that's a good average play time there. So if you log on you're liable to see the whole cycle about once. Maybe an 8 hour would be a little better. I don't see how so many people can feel this is more "imersive" if the sun is going down in real life, AND it's going down in game, all that does is remind you that the sun is going down in real life. If the sun is rising in the game that just REMINDS you that it's morning, hence you're always aware of the time outside of the game. I think you're truely imersed when you're playing for hours, then you turn your head for the first time all night and realize it's now morning, and bright out, even though it's pitch black in game. Imersion to me, is forgetting about reality. I hope Blizzard changes this feature, or offers servers with accelerated time. Not everyone is able to log on at their liesure, I like to see the sun, even if it's a digital one.

I wouldn't like 12 hours day 12 hours night since some people can only play at certain times. I would like to see 3 hours day 3 of night not too long and not too short I think personally. I am one of those who can log on casually during the day so it really doesn't bother me but the 24 hour clock isn't a good idea I think. I think 6 of day and 6 of night is a little long since like I said before some people can only play lets say from 10pm to midnight so they will always see the same thing but maybe if its a 3 hours day/night they might actually be able to see WoW in daylight/nightlight. I think blizzard won't do a 24 hour clock since of the spawns like Dracius said if only some mobs are out at night and only some are out at day thats way too long to wait when you want to do a certain quest. Blizzard I think might even do less than a 6 hour clock because when people want to do quest they don't want to wait 3 hours cause they didn't finsh fast enough or something like that. So to sum this all up I think they will eather do a 6 hour clock (3 hours of day/night) or even less like one hour of day and one of night....
A 24 hour day in WoW is to long I think. You will have players griefing who come on late that they never get to see the day. I think that it should be halfed that 12 hour day, 6 hours day light , 6 hours night. Or even 4 hours day light, 4 hours night. Also it is going to be great when they add weather in.

That is EXACTLY what is wrong with the 24 hour clock. It heavily screws those who can only play at fixed times during the day or night. And all for what? So lazy people who dont want to look at a clock to check the time be able to visually tell that they should be going to bed? Sigh.
If there would be New York server 24 hour clock sounds good to me. I can play in the morning, 2-3 hours at day time and all evening so I think I wont miss anything. The only bad thing is that some people play couple of hours a day and can't enjoy it all. I understand you guys.
I think 24 hour clock is a great idea but only if you got WoW server in your region.

That's just what I think.
Well i think Vakktn said it best, a 12 hour clock would be perfect. But just to see what everyone else thinks ill make a poll.

12 hour clock would be fine, even though I voted 6 hours. Anything less than 24 hours is preferable.
