Does EVE PVP get any better than this?

in EVE Online

I was looking at some youtube videos, and watching pvp is like watching golf. I ended up fast forwarding through all of the clips waiting for something to happen. I don't know if its just the video quality is bad, but what I'm seeing is just some UFO with lines shining out of it at other UFOs. ooo big ring explosion. Probably didn't help that most of the music along with it sucked.

    If you have never played Eve you will not really understand what is going on in an Eve pvp video. Even if you do know what is going on Eve pvp videos are not the most exciting things to watch. It is like golf, boring to watch but fun as hell to play. Its boring to watch because theres no big numbers flashing above someones head and the combat is a lot slower than other MMO pvp.

    OP, its generally considered bad form to create a new account and create 4 new threads out of the 5 total posts you have.  Usually better to wait a bit before inserting your foot in your mouth.

    But as others have said, EVE combat isn't for everyone, its a lot slower than most games, and appeals to a certain crowd. It might not be for you.

    I have tried EVE with the 14 day trial. I *like* its combat. It is very tactical and a thinking man's game. It is probably more like starfleet battle done right (better than all the SP star trek star ship tactical game) with a big part in "equiping" your ship.

    The only reason I did not sign up for an account to play is the big PvP aspect of the game and that I only have time for one MMORPG (wow). May be I will do that later .. i really like tactical space ship combat. I am looking at Jumpgate Evolution but that seems to be too much of an action game.

    Thank you for that insightful commentary. It's hard to appreciate something when you don't understand all of the interactions that are taking place. Power, strategy, deception, teamwork, they all can play a role in EVE PVP. And yes UTB videos are pretty bad. Try evefiles.com next time.

    Not to mention ships; If you don't know anything about EVE ships, you don't have a clue why a bunch of battlebadgers taking out a Vaga and driving off some other combat ships is so freaking hilarious. :D

    Lots of EVE videos are also about Titan kills; Highly uninteresting until you realize that it took thousands of players several months of effort to build one of those things, and it was gone in seconds. :)

    Also that one on killing the mothership in lowsec! Just looks like a bunch of ships stupidly bouncing off each other but the preparation and planning it took to kill a mothership in low sec is amazing!

    I'll take your word for it. I haven't done the big pvp yet, but I have done some ganking with a rifter. May not be much but I have 3.4 mil SP.

    I saw that badger video! I almost drowned in my cola so funny was it  ;)

     

    but if you dont know  how unlikely, absurd and cocky this was, you would not laugh at all....

     

    there ARE good videos, every noob can understand... but most are just dots rushing around or things blowing up. still nice for the expert (like that video of a huge battle with only capital ships involved) but borin for anyone who does not know how much isk are lost there every second

    few thousand? you mean like over 33,000 a day?

    Few usually means 2...33,000 is a bit more than 2, 000

    To tell you a secret: I don't like the Titan kill videos either. They look absurdly boring.

    Then again, I wish I had a Fraps from when our alliance fleet ganged up on a NFC dread when its fleet had abandoned it during the First Deklein Civil War. That was fun to play, and if I'd frapsed it it would've even had some action in it, as I was flying a tackler at almost skin range...

    One big problem with EVE videos is that we have no tools to make videos look better then just frapsed with normal UI. If there was a 'record' and 'replay' function that would just record the locations and events of all the ships in battle, and would allow zooming out and in to any object in said recording, making cool videos would be a lot easier, and even manageable during (and after) a fight.
