    From EBGames:

    www.ebgames.com/product.asp

    Please note:

EBGames guess-timate of release date is June 10.

That's not an official Mythic statement, so we will have to see what Mythic says about the release date ... someday.

However, we see that EBGames will take your money for the preorder at this time.

I'll wait for the Collector's Edition (or a Limited Edition if such a thing exists).

    Sounds pretty sweet!

I am definitely getting it, too. I hope the "special heads" are not butt ugly, just so I can justify using them.

The in-game stuff is the fairly unique aspect, the in-box stuff was totally called months ago, but it also very nice.

I assume that is 30 days free play like a normal box as opposed to 60 days free game play....Still, kind of cool.

For a game that I will most likely play for a month, I'm definitely picking up the Collector's Edition, merely for nostalgia's sake.  I'm not a big fan of PvP gaming, I love the concept, just not the mindset of PvPer's I've encountered in the past.  But that's another post entirely.

The graphic novel, mini, and atlas will most likely drive me to break out old, dusty mats and mini's and try to get the band back together.  It's been over a decade since we've played, and it will be interesting to see if the MMO brings some new blood (for the blood god) to the tables at game/comic book stores everywhere.

    Currently Playing: Nothing...I'm developing.
    Looking Forward To:

Yep, checked/fixed links in both posts.  Sorry about that.

Seems like somebody let the info out to the EU market first.

But, it seems Josh Drescher's comment was correct:

"More to your question in terms of the pre-order and open beta, details about these programs are coming soon – stay tuned!"

So, preorder (and CE info) is being released.

Now waiting to see what his "open beta" details will say!

Because if he says "Buy the CE and you'll get into the game a little early in an Open Beta" -- BAM! -- I'm grabbing that offer!

I put it out there so someone wouldn't make an issue of it.  IIRC, someone did for some other game and thought they were getting 60 days.  Trying to kill that before it happens.  Oh wait, it won't help.

Filler aside, it would look pretty much like that. (Note, I scraped the 12 exlusive quests because I'm almost positive  the 12 quests are for the 12 heads. Still not a bad package, but the art book is really the only reason I would go for it. Unfortunately I've become so jaded with the development and community of the game I'm likely going to give it a pass by the time it comes out.

EDIT: The 30days listed is definately going to be the same 30days you always get. Keep in mind the lists that get put out for collectors editions always contain lots of "filler" which may not be exclusive to the collectors edition, but simply come with it, to make the package look better.  Happens all the time.

Funny, I thought it was about collectors edition info, not about hyping the game and fanboyism, no facts allowed. I didn't say it was a terrible collectors edition, I just stripped out the marketing fluff. Enjoy the marketing spin then.

(Note, I scraped the 12 exlusive quests because I'm almost positive  the 12 quests are for the 12 heads.

I think you are wrong here.

To me, it makes no sense to have to make a character to quest a head to make another character.

I am quite confident that the quests have nothing to do with the heads, but hey, I could be wrong.

Well, it seems highly coincidental that there would be 12 heads and then exactly 12 quests for each race. Considering the trend of "expanding" features by breaking them down into steps so you can list each one on the box that is done in game marketing, I would highly expect it to be the case. I'll admit, there is the possibility I'm wrong though.

I'd love to believe this because that is a setup worthy of a Collectors Edition title, but how authentic is it? Unless I missed something there is no indication of marketing supplying the details and it's hard to believe that site would have all the intel without it being displayed on the Herald or warhammeronline.com first.

    Coincidence? I think so.

I think it is a case of things coming in small numbers and being divided between six armies evenly, which gives a high probability things will match up.

It sounds like each army will get 2 exclusive heads, one for each sex (or in the case of the Greenskins, an Orc one and a Goblin one). As for the quests, how many could they reasonably include before pissing off the standard-edition players? I think 2 per army is just about reaching that limit, and just 1 sounds too wimpy. You never want to give too much extra game to people who simply pay more.

At any rate, if the heads are the rewards, I will be somewhat disappointed. I certainly do not want the quest rewards to be anything that would lead to imbalance, but I want them to at least be interesting and cool, not something you should get right at the character creation screen. Just some statless aesthetic items would be fine for me. Maybe a cool cloak or something.

Further information may illuminate this subject, and release will certainly settle it.

I hate when they include dumb stuff that no one really "collects", like dog tags and collector cards.

Come on, 12 heads are surely not linked to the quests. And it's 12 heads because there are 12 possible character you can create:

    Dwarf (Male, Female)

    Empire (Male, Female)

    High Elves (Male, Female)

    Dark Elves (Male, Female)

    Chaos (Male, Female)

    Orcs

    Goblins

Which make 12 heads, one for each.

And for the 12 quests, well it's really just 2 for each race, it could have been 1 or 3, but it's 2.

If this information is in fact valid, I doubt they would list the 12 quests ( with 12 rewards) then 12 character heads seperately. It would be 12 quests (with 12 character head rewards). I don't think they are that deceptive.

Thats the thing however. Its not deceptive. They included 12 quests, and they included 12 heads, and they included 12 rewards. They just didnt happen to tell you how all of that played out. It's a very very common thing amongst collectors editions. I mean hell, they put "manual!" as a "feature" of the collectors edition. The point with these lists is to bloat them as much as possible to give the impression of more value than is actually being offered. As I said, its all basic marketing. That being said however, the remaining features aren't half bad, especially the art book.

You haven't seen my closet...The physical items and memorabilia are the only things actually worth paying for. Honestly, I'm of the opinion that its a slap in the face when they include significant in game content and making it exclusive for one version when it's already been coded for the game. A title or something nifty isn't bad, but when they start offering exclusive races or things that give a long term upper hand over the other version, then its going too far. The worst thing I saw in regards to this was with Shadowbane where certain players got the extra races immediately, and others needed to wait three months.
