ROFL are you being serious? If SWG had 200k subs when they put the NGE out there would not have been a NGE don't fool yourself or think you were that important.Did I like swg pre nge? I did actually but I like it post nge as well I have to say the swg community at large have to be the biggest bunch of crybabies I have ever seen.

If it wasn't 200K then it sure did feel like it.

Regardless most people I would think are refering to pre-CU, which undoubtedly had the highest level of subscriptions for this game. You say you're a pre-CU vet so I'm sure you'll rememeber when SOE was proud of their 350K subs right?

Do you think there are 150K subs currently? Cause that would be a difference of 200K.

  • SWG had 254K subs at the time of the NGE.

That was down to less than 150K within 2 months of the NGE.

That was down to less than 50K within a year of the NGE.

That is down to less than 25K now.

Or as low as 12K, depending on which source I trust.

Ah and these are your ever-fantastic yet sadly, unfactual numbers (refering to the lower numbers rather than the Pre-NGE numbers)

Yeah a lot of people think PRE-NGE when they think of the whole disgruntled vet issue. This is a huge misunderstanding that prevents many people from understanding most points. Those who played during the Pre CU period of the game are whay I would classify as vets and the time period most are reffering to when they mentiion the glory days of SWG. The Pre CU is where the absolute amazing fun of the game and sand box appeal transcended major imbalance issues and bugs to provide an atmosphere that would set the standard for a lot of people.

Any gaming company that dares try to repeat the mistakes of SWG CU and NGE will be doomed to failure, SWG is only just starting to recover from those monumental changes that had a largely negative effect on the playerbase (I'm refering to the players that did prefer the CU, nobody liked the NGE) and it seems that SoE has at least learnt their lesson well and is beginning to attone for it by basing their publish plans directly on player feedback.

No they haven't badger, that's just ridiculous. did players ask for a space revamp? did players ask for the collections system? did they ask for the village all shiny and new? the only publish in the last year that the players wanted was beastmaster and it wasn't CH. the bug bash was just a big vacation. They  still hear the cries on the forums for Pre-CU so they add a little something to keep the players biting..Meanwhile not adding the content the players really want like how long have smugglers been asking for content? after 2 years they add animations back. i don't want to go on anymore, what you said is total BS.

Could not have said it beter

yeah the new line of propoganda is that they have learned their lesson. They have not; they continue to repeat the same mistakes. They pretend the NGE was a failure of communication (it was, but that wasn't the main thing wrong with it). They therefore think that by communicating a bit better it shows they learned their lesson. This just proves they still refuse to admit what they did wrong; and therefore are not correcting it.

    We aren't coming back.
Get used to the tiny (and shrinking) populations on your servers.
There is nothing you can say or do, short of re-instating our game (and that might not even do it) that will bring us back.  At this point, why should we settle for ANYTHING short of that, having held out this long?
    We are gone.
    Get over it.

Please do, really... How many years has it been and some of the old vets are still whinning.  You're mad everyone did not stop when you stopped?  Are you mad people enjoy the game and are having fun?  Whatever the reason just 'GET OVER IT"

Use smaller sentances salvaje he may yet get it, think devacore maybe an nge'r

That is very true they do not listen to there players never have never will that i do know from the years of playing that train reck, and they would shut down the servers rather then admit it I bet........

Arguing over exact subscription numbers isn't necessary. All you have to do to see that the NGE was a massive failure is log on to any of the servers. The visible population is a mere fraction of what it used to be. We don't need to know exact numbers to see that.

You could also go to the official forums and look at every other post that is calling for SOE to advertise or do *something* to get the population up.

A lot of you wish we would "get over it" and move on. Guess what...we moved on after the NGE was forced on us and now players are *begging* for us to come back because the servers are so empty.

Indeed, it is CURRENT players who can't get over the fact that the game is failing, and failing faster than it was before.

They are now sending out missionaries to other sites like this one to get people to try the game again, making false claims such as that the DEVs have learned their lesson and the game is much better now. While marginally better in some ways; it has gotten worse in others. Since the NGE it has been a one step forward two steps back affair -- leading to a persistent downward spiral.

The summer "bump" gave them a feeling of false confidence, but, as I warned them it would, that all vanished between September and the new year. Now they are all, developers and player alike, in a frantic, panic mode, blaming people HERE for the empty servers.

It's sad. They need to get over it.

    Agree

I mean, really...who are you going to believe on subscriber numbers?  SOE/LA PR flaks, or your own lyin' eyes?

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.
