How is DAOC holding up to returning or new players?

How is the game? Friendly for people coming back fresh. Is it hard to start new again or what. The community has got to be slim pickings by now I would imagine.

It's not the most polished game around but still there a lot of RvR at peek hours.

Most of the Community is in small-medium guilds, most of the guilds/alliances are really close nit and do a lot together as groups, I guess for coming back is really a matter of finding a guild you can fit into that is in an active alliance with people that play the same times as you do.



Leveling is really quick now, way faster then the old days of DAoC, but most of the leveling is done by PL in guild/alliance groups, mainly because the real game is RvR in the New Fontiers at level 50.  I know you get a ML9 Animist, with a Druid for buff and heals you can level a character to 50 in probably 12 hours game play at the most

Depends what type of server you want to play one there is a Classic Cluster, 3 Normal Clusters(2 will be Merging on Feb 6), a PvP Server and a Coop Server, Classic Cluster and Normal Clusters are more active servers, Best to check out http://www.camelotherald.com/ and check out the server information, it is on the right hand side of the page.



Well I guess that depend on the server and realm you choose, finding a good guild to fit your play style/times can some times be hit or miss. You can try talking to people in starter guild for the realm you choose and another way is to flag for LFGuild by typing "/lfguild".

I found the guild I currently in by creating a new character and flagging myself for LFGuild which ended up being a little guild that worked out well, I joined that guild over 2 months ago when I came back to DAoC after being away from DAoC, I know my guild does a mix of RvR and PvE, maybe a RvR game but PvE is still good for Level Alts/New Chars, Getting Arti, ML and CL Exp and Getting Drops needed for templates, crafting or to sell for plat.

Game is still great and as someone mentioned you can level insanely fast. Took a toon from 1 - 50 on classic in about 6 hours with a necro/cleric.

PvP is what it is all about, and there is still plenty of that going on.

I agree with everything that has been posted in this thread.  If you really want to rush to 50 and RvR you can find a guild and get leveled up very fast.

If however you want to actually play the game and not just get PLed, the game is much quicker than it used to be.  On a side note, if you want to PvE I would suggest the co-op server.  A lot of serious hardcore players there and starting from scratch is ultra EZ since the cost of everything there is very low... just a suggestion

I want to head back bad , but lack of time prevents me. 6-12 hrs to lvl to 50?!?! that is nuts.

I'm going to be returning to DAoC this weekend.

I'm planning on staying with it until WAR releases.

Perhaps more will do the same and we can all enjoy a few months of the good old DAoC before we retire and move on to Mythics next jewel, Warhammer Online.

This game is still a great game to play. And a solid consideration for anyone who is tired of WoW and waiting for WAR or AoC

Wife and i and some friends all just re subbed and going to play till WAR is released having a blast again too Great game still and i m hoping they do a WAR/DAOC combo sub or something i ll always love this game.

For sure, a WAR/DAoC combo sub. would be great and I honestly think it would help DAoC survive... we can hope I guess.
