Well go give David Allen some money. He ran Artifact into the ground, to the point that they had to fire him to stop him burning through another $5 million in cash and produce nothing. Then he ran Pharoah Productions into the ground after that. Now that he's scared every investor in the industry away because he never produces squat maybe people like you can give him your life savings so he can burn through that and not produce a game again.
Go on, I dare you. Put your money where your mouth is and back David Allen. He claims he still wants to make the original game or a game like it. So go back him and get rich if you are right (and watch him milk you dry of cash if you are wrong).

I'm not so certain I agree with you, Thorongil. Some of the behavior of some other Artifact Entertainment employees was dubious at best. I'm not so sure how trust worthy mister Bowman and his side of the story is.
Wow, thanks for that link. I had always wondered what really was going on in that whole fiasco. I really sympathize with David Allen. I went through a situation similar to this, although in no where near as grand of scale. There's just too many people willing to take advantage of good people, kick them down, then stand on their backs.

You actually think you know anything you are talking about? Get a clue dude. Yeah we all see how DB has made a handful of money for everyone. Last I looked DA never left the starting gate, because he was road out on a rail. You should also read back about who was really in charge and maybe you can get off this DA was ruining everything kick. Sheesh.

David Allen only fault was that he never sat down and decided that a MMORPG could cost millions not a few thousands.
Truth be told Artifact was not a big company but he did have some great ideas some very revolutionary back in 1999 which has over the years been stolen by other MMO.
Did he believe in his game.Heck yes.For those that do not know before he looked for outside investors he actuall re mortgaged his house.
He also took far less money as pay off then if he decided to sell off in the beginning. So i think he really believed in his game .
This game maybe the biggest tragedy ever in MMORPG history as i believe if everything went well it could have been in the MMO history books along with EQ and UO.
I don't think HZ was the worst MMO I've ever played. In fact, it had a few areas that it was great in (crafting, the attempt at a continuing story and events). I tried reaaally hard to like Horizons. I'm a big dragon fan and I thought "A game where I can BE a dragon?!? I'm in!". But it held my interest for all of about 1 1/2 months.
Now with the Bankruptcy of Artifact, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a cascade effect. Players get worried that no updates will happen etc, so they start to leave. Players leaving means more wasteland and more worry of game folding and less cash for devs to do anything to the game with...etc..etc. Less cash flow means no fixes/enhancements etc, game goes static and stale, so more people leave. I fear the game might not last much longer. The population playing HZ is already pretty low so I could see it having a chance of folding. It's too bad really. It could have been a great game.

Think it was really Game Network fault.
They should never be allowed to run a game.

Yea that was a great link man. If even half of it is true....david allen got really scrwed.
But there is 1 thing i know is true for sure.........the game that got released sucks my butt.
And AE going bankrupt........well that might give MR Allen a little payback.

I dont think horizons will fold but it will be hurting for a long time.
its a good game its just has bad people running it
Well i doubt it would fold myself. At worst some company will take it over.
The key issue is horizons lost mst of its fan base back when it was going thru so many changes.
Then on release those that still waited to see what it was were totally dissapointed because it have very little resemblence to what many expected.
Now it certainly is not the worst mmorpg out there but it lost so much of its original ideas ppl simply turned their back on it.
